A guy a work let my drive his Model X Raven Performance the other day - WOW!
The acceleration was absolutely incredible/ridiculous - think they are listed at around 2.6 to 60! - off the line was simply amazing, made my vision go a little blurry!, but also punching it at 50 it still melted your brain.
He was towing his caravan the other day - and he dropped a mk7.5 GTI trying to overtake him :ROFLMAO:

Insanely fast - but otherwise soul less and dull.
Have you driven one?
I was thinking the same before I drove one. It was actually really nice to drive, nice steering and suspension, smooth yet controlled and quiet.

Most modern cars are dull to drive - for people who drive a diesel auto for the cheap running costs and high torque an EV power train probably make sense.

Yes I have, a VW ID3 - weirdly silent, as I guess most are. I agree that they are right for some people, just not for me at the moment.

A mk7.5 GTI would leave him in the twisties though, down a good B road the electric cars are just too heavy. I agree they have their place, and people like them for point and squirt acceleration - but they have as much soul as a microwave

I’d still rather walk!
Without sounding like a boring git, there’s no need for performance like that on a road car that is also deadly quiet setting off from traffic lights where there could potentially be unaware pedestrians.
I love my cars, fast cars too but 0-60 dash times are all a bit pointless to me when they’re not accompanied by the sound of an engine.
And doing it with a caravan in tow to ‘drop’ a golf GTI, stupid.
Good luck to him keeping his caravan upright in future races. :ROFLMAO:
And that’s why us HGV drivers love people who tow a caravan a couple of times a year and think they know what they’re doing. (y)

I duno - with 285-22's it's traction was very good, and they also have much better traction control than ANY ICE car, a doubt any car could leave it on a twisty road.
I was a passenger in one of his previous cars - a Model 3 performance, and though crazy fast, I felt that was soulless (though to be fair I didn't drive it) - I was expecting this Model X to be similar - but it surprised me! felt nice to drive.

Of course it wouldn't replace a nimble hot hatch or sports car - but to replace a big SUV that's a different question!

I'm not saying I would buy any Tesla - far from it (I couldn't buy a car knowing some part of it is going in Musk's pocket) - but the Model X certainly changed my perception of EV's and that not all are like microwaves!

Travelling across Ireland for the last couple of weeks quite a few charging points about. For local use 99% of the time home charging would do, for holidays I'd thought more difficult. Still I'm holding off for another 5 years. Not so difficult at the minute. Only issue lack of Cupra dealers locally and an MG China model looks a bit cheap. See whether Vag cave in and badge up Skoda EV as Seat's then the dealership would have them. The Ateca / Karog type of arrangement with the Elrog. I'm lazy no wish to drive miles for a dealer.

(This one posted from Norway maritime internet... edit hmm still in Ireland funny that)
