Test drove a Cupra 280 SC this morning

Am new in these parts. Thanks for the info re: test drive.

Ordered a 5 door manual last week which already had a build date 8 weeks out.

Worth remembering that - if ordered prior to 31st March - Cupras are eligible for Seat Finance special which offers £1000 deposit contribution (effectively £1000 off list price). There is a 0% option if you can stump up a 50% deposit.

Arnold Shark weren't up for any discount. However, a great local place (Uddingston for any Scots) that we've used before operate a wonderful alternative approach. It's called honesty. They asked me seriously what I wanted for my car and - as it was reasonable they agreed. They then told me the best deal on the car they had available - £2500 off list value (£3500 in total with deposit contribution from Seat). Refreshing!

I've dealt with w livingstones for years on and off. They are good people. I have a problem though. I want a Cupra but I have a 1 series BMW that is only 16 months old I can't get shot of as it's in neg eq. Oh well, I'll need to be patient and wait a while.

Test drove the Leon Cupra this morning. Smiles all round as it was the first time the salesman had driven one also.

Best dealer could offer was 0% finance with £1000 deposit contribution.
Very ordinary offer for my current car in part exchange.


Never bought online before. What's the catch?
I'm a cash buyer with a car I want trade in.

I assume DTD is drivethedeal?
What about broadspeed?

Yea it is just economies of scale at work. The broker puts a nations worth of orders through a handful of dealers, they make less on each one but sell more....

This is a pre-registed vehicle. You should take note that during the period before your details as the new registered keeper are provided to, processed by and recorded with the DVLA you are at risk of contravening section 43c of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 of the keeper details not being currently up to date. As the registration process is in the hands of third parties we cannot provided exact transfer timescale.

You also have to declare on your insurance that you are not the registered owner which some companies don't like

Does seem a little too good to be true must admit, brokers4cars says your first owner too. Probably give them a call and see what they say. I'm not one for taking risks

Does indeed see a very healthy discount on a newly released car. Be interested to see how people get on with this one.

The 0% as I see it is a dealer / seat offer
The discount is the broker taking a slice of the pie , so all seat offers will still be in place

Pay your deposit on a credit card, you are covered by the bank then if anything goes wrong. I will be going with who ever offers the most discount, like I said pay on a credit card and there will be no risk.

I think if you read through that whole thread it becomes a lot clearer what does or does not happen with brokers.
Even mainstream dealers **** orders up , I have read numerous posts on car forums where dealers have either not entered the order correctly or it has just not been done at all.
I think as a buyer who is going to pay a large amount of £££££ you just have to be sensible and get all the facts before handing over your £££££.
I would only want to deal with a main dealer once you have paid your deposit with a broker , if the broker insists you pay them , cancel your Oder and get a refund , make sure you enquire about this before you place an order , I would only pay any balance to a main dealer.

I think this is sensible advice. It is a new experience for me buying via a broker and I would not feel comfortable if the broker was supplying the car. I filled the initial enquiry form with DTD, they phoned me to confirm details and take credit card number, but it was the dealer who took the deposit when they rang later in week. And it will be the dealer I correspond with from this point forward. The B4C terms and conditions suggest the purchase would be via them and also mentions the car is likely to be pre registered.

The discount is tempting though, I have to say.
