I was test driving a fr last week and all i can say it was a very nice car. the pull from 2nd and 3rd was very strong, but the only thing that was a bit concerning was that when i went back to the garage the mpg meter was saying 33. is that normal as i didnt rake it that much and was driving through town for most of the test drive. any one help me as i am very intrested in buying a fr or cupra tdi as my budget is a bit tight

Did you sit in the car park before leaving with the engine running? Or the same when you returned? That will drag the MPG down.

Town driving is always bad for fuel economy too, so no worries there.

33MPG is still more than I manage when driving like Miss.Daisy though

I drive in a fairly spirited fashion and I've averaged 42mpg since I had the car.

Thats probably a 50/50 spilt between town/traffic & motorway miles (at various speeds).

Think he means a petrol FR lads, or does he? 33 average is entirely possible if you hoon it a bit in the derv. Best way to thin k is if you had hooned it as much in the petrol version it would probably be half of that.

it was def a Diesel, the engine was on for about 2minutes before we went anywhere. i didnt want to hoof it too much as i didnt want the sales guy thinking i was a joyrider. I would love a petrol cupra but
1. im twenty and the insurance would be crazy
2. i like getting the extra miles from the Diesel.

would you recomend a cupra tdi or fr tdi, i no they are the same cars with different cosmetics.

between £8k and £9k. i dont think il be getting it till october as thats when my insurance policy runs out and i get another no claims. so hopefully they cum down in price a bit more what u think.

You have just answered your own question. They are both the same car with slight cosmetic changes. Get the one that offers the best value for money, the lowest mileage, the most options, the best service history, the lowest price... whatever your priorities are. Just don't get too caught up on the badge :)
