Right,

So undecided i thought i might as well ask opinions.....

I'm selling my Exeo (will be on sale section when i'm a full member) even though i love it as i'm wanting to downsize a bit cos i don't need it. So have had a look at the new MK5 Cupra 1.4TSI DSG and the MK5 FR with the same engine (minus 30bhp and a few extra pieces inside) and the older 2008 MK4 1.9 TDi FR.

My background has been a 2006 Fabis VRS which i modded pretty nicely and so therefore am very used to the 2008 MK4 1.9 TDi FR, but that's kinda what's drawing me back to it in a sense. loved the engine and pull of it and the mods are endless really, specially lookin at the MK4 Forum! I just recall the fabia interior abit lacking but the ibiza looks abit better, specially the steering wheel! Can anyone tell me how the build quality is? the plastics etc? heard they are abit "dated and cheap feeling".

But the MK5 Cupra 1.4TSI and the MK5 FR are so smart looking on the outside and if spec'd up with the xenon's....very nice! I just took a look at the MK4 section though and have seen some reeeeaaaalllly nice Mk4's done very tastefully. But then i see a Cupra/Boca on the Mk5 section and they just blow me away, proper nice looking with cheap tax insurance and running costs from the 180bhp TSi engine. plus the supercharger sounds awesome when you give it some in "sports mode"

anyway....opinions on which to buy please....

nice one.

If u like your car being in the work shop go for the mk5 Cupra lmao

The older mk4 is a nice car owning one my self but I would rather have the newer mk5 due to looks less dated. And has a very nice style ing to the mk5 just the 140bhp tdi fr ain't power full enought for me to swap my mk4 tdi Cupra. But am sure one day I will go to the mk5.

Make sure you can live with the ride. It's worse than the Fabia and you'll probably notice it more than most coming from a bigger car

Matt I actually sat n read your entire thread on Readers Rides and yours is one of the reasons I'd go backwards lol! Reyt example mate. Would need to copy a few things. I'm waiting for this MK4 to come in at a dealership for me to test drive, guess that's the main thing to do ey! But driven plenty of MK5's now n love em! Just not reyt happy bout all the negative comments re the engine! Cos theres no doubt at all the MK5 is a damn site better lookin.

Cheers :)

How many miles do you do? Bit puzzled that you are considering the Mk5 petrols, but the diesel Mk4.

The 1.8T Ibizas and Leons are so cheap now I'd be tempted if I didn't need diesel economy.

I just really miss the pull of the PD engine, the CR engines just don't give quite the ooompphh! If u get me. As my nan would say "they don't make em like they used to!" haha. Don't really need the dirty diesel for economy at all, just loved my fabia. And got my eye on a 2008 with only 5k on the clock! Dealer gets it in this week as a trade in from an old biddy! So reyt nice clean in abused example, that's whats swaying me to the Mk4 cos I can get a reyt nice example of one. But the MK5's are reyt special to get so much from the 1.4 and are just as economical round town if not better! This is why I'm reyt undecided! Help lol
