Right well I thought I would start this bit as it could be used as a refrence for anyone else changing the lights. Anyway dual headlamp does not work as a straight swap. I tryed today althought I dont have an H7 bulb the H3 bulb with the main beam does not work.

I rang seat put my order in for the radiator grills and asked about it the bloke who works there and now knows my voice on the phone lol.. says that although hes never done one he could imagine its splitting the bulbs and it wud cost about 2 hours labour ouch. So Im figuring it cant be that hard so anyone have any ideas about this at all?

Also one more thing will this control module work on the dual lamp as its off the single?

as I thought you will need to split the original wires out of the single plug

at a guess I would say the red is the earth and that will need to go to both of the new bulbs

then the purple one will be dipped beam and brown will be high beam

I could tell you exactly if I was with the car and had my fluke but as you say it can't be that hard can it

Just get a multimeter and find potential difference (Voltage) of the 3 appropriate wires:

+12 to 14.5v DC For Dipped Beam
+12 to 14.5v DC For Main Beam
0V Ground

So for the Dipped Bulb connector you need the Positive (dipped) and the Ground wires.
For the Main Bulb connector you need the Positive (main) and the Ground wires.

I would personally say Purple is the Ground as both Brown and Red are commony used as live wires in many other appliances but it is Spanish so dont quote me on that lol.

Can't help thinking you need another hobby mate. ;)

By the time you've finished with that car it'll be like Triggers broom.
Completely original, only had 4 new heads and 3 new handles!
Check your PM's.

Regards Guy.

I thought all the connections to the lamp unit were via the external multi-way connector block on the rear of the headlamp housing, rather than to individual bulbs ?

I remember when I took the headlamps out of my Ibiza, once I'd undone the bolts there was just one connector to remove. Maybe mine was different as I had the OE HID units.

Are the multi-way external blocks different on the two types of lamp housing then ?

no the plug fits in the back fine same connectors on both single and double, the side light even comes on. Just the lamps dont work or rather the high beam doesnt and I didnt have an H7 bulb 2 test the dipped.

also mate on the people on your site have a picture of a 1.2 with double lamps so it can be done like
