Its a cupra tdi with the remap. i have front and rear strut brace's as well.
yes the tyres let it down, i will be putting 225/35/r17 on when a new set is due.
i don't think there any match for a type r myself, the type r's have better chassis, better dynamics better gearboxes better engines in fact for the job everyone is arguing about.
for 'real world' driving the cupra are well off the handling of type r's there leave you for dead around lanes as the cupra's just keep over steering all the time.
not really fair to compare a diesel with a petrol hot hatch tho as we all brought our diesels for one reason..... we can't afford the petrol !!! lol.
you can buy far superior petrol's for the money we paid for our diesels.
don't get me wrong I love my cupra but im afraid its no sports car :(

What aload of crock sh*t! Sorry matey, but if you have 200bhp and 300lb/ft (which I assume isnt RR'd as down to the point) then you should be laughing at Type R's on your way past and still be getting twice as much mpg.

I hate these sorta threads in general as it servs no real point. "My car is fastest than...."

Im sorry to say I bought my diesel for insurance and insurance alone at the time really over the petrol varient. Nothing to do with mpg, that was a added bonus I found out about after. You can buy far superior anything's over anything's! Nothing to do with it being a diesel imho.

Im going to requote this for laughs

Define sports car?

A car may be a sporting automobile without being a sports car. Performance modifications of regular, production cars, such as sport compacts, sports sedans, muscle cars, hot hatches and the like, generally are not sports cars, yet share traits common to sports cars. Often, performance cars of all configurations are grouped as Sports and GT cars, or, occasionally, as performance cars

So if you bought your car under the impression of it being a sports car, then shame on you. You bought a diesel, front wheel drive car and thought sports car? Ouch, no wonder your so clearly upset about it.

Seat Ibiza Cupra TDi with remap imho is a performance hatch, hot hatch etc etc.

Im sure there are some interesting video's up on the net of remapped PD130's giving a good go against type r's on both track, and road.

I dont know the links tho :(

when i said sports car I ment hot hatch!
you can have your opinion but I know type r are far better than cupra tdi's, I have driven both and seen it for myself many times.
its a diesel end off.....
Im not upset at all mate I have what you call a 'sports car' Impreza P1 so i know the difference.
I brought the cupra as its far better on fuel and i do alot of miles.

I usually hat these aswell. (and no offence but its usually Diesel owners who appear to have som much to prove)

BUT Rhine9 IMHO actually appeared to be saying something worth reading as opposed to the usual sh!t you get on these threads and then he gets jumped on for it.

If it isnt diesel drivers, its remapped LCR's :p

(Long going joke!)

I wasnt saying it isnt worth reading!

I wasnt "jumping" on him as per say, just I fail to see how a 200bhp & 300lb/ft car, cannot beat a 200bhp & 3lb/ft (might be 4lb/ft not sure :p)

Its not all straight line speed I get it, and everyone seems to think these cars handle crap (alot like alot of people seem to think the LCR does!) but imho mine didnt on standard suspension, with standard wheels, and standard rubber.

Its the same thing, every car, and driver is different, the orginal thread starter (should really post this for a start!) but did as it was his experience, which by the looks of things, many people have had. Not every diesel ibiza on the road, handles like mine, or is a fast, im pretty sure mine is one of the slower of the remapped pd130's. The same can be said for Civic drivers, maybe everyone who has ever "raced" one wasnt actually racing, and the civic had it in 5th and 30mph?!

Facts and figures....

Meh, I didnt reply the first time I read this thread for this reason!

I think this will happen in any car mate because your either coming off the power mid corner, or braking when its un-settled. Try learning how to drive the car before critisising it or at least get some decent tyres.

Ive never had a problem with oversteer on mine, and the times it has, were when ive been playing and being a tit with it. Now ive got 20mm spacers i couldnt get it to kick outeven if i tried.

Heres some vids of CTR's vs Ibizas

And anothother from a old german touring car league with onboard vids. Both cars are fettled with and it shows a few little changed bring the ibiza right back again...

considering every civic i see is a type r i would not have one, plus the fact they apparently torque steer quite a bit as well puts me off

Erm, please chris tell me you put the last bit down in jest?

not enough torque to steer the wheels but i think the topic has gone off a bit the person who started the thread had a 20vt more chance of that doing a ctr than the tdi i think and the ibiza can handle if worked on as they race the polo gti (same chassis) so can be all bad! bit asier when you have over 100 ft lb and 40 bhp more than a ctr as well

Im sure it is my good friend! Yours feels far to much like a diesel with all that torque boy! Just you dont change gear at 4,000rpm!!

This has gone off topic slighty hasnt it.

Oh well.

they cost more a lot more, so you can expect them to be faster :p i wo gonna get a 1.6 sport but it wo 10k i then realised i had no money and it was 3 yr old, so i got a 05 beeza for aa fraction of price :p we havnt got the best cars we have budget cars like all seats are :p or rebadged vws

i overtook a DB9 the other day i think he was trying;) we were both doing well over 35 mph by the time i got past him, shamed by the derv again:lol:

the pd 130 was definatly holding its ground in all vids very impressive ive had 1 encounter in my cupra petrol with a civic and must admit power wise it was no contest handling wise he caght up a tad but i had p-zeros and standard suspension then now ive got 20mm rear spacers strut brace and coilovers id stay with a civic round the corners
in a straight line
