sometimes i hate modern tech ,we live in a nanny society im afraid and it will only get worse.
i may go back to my bikes at least they are not quite as nannfied lol......cant do my work on a bike though.. :p

I think that was the first thing I did when I got Carista, disabled stop/start.
i have permanently disabled start stop nonsense an my last 4 cars and as soon as obd eleven sort out the VAG group cars i will do the same with the new tormentor when it arrives.

If you drive with gearbox in S, it doesn't use start stop. Since I usually prefer my gearbox in S, that solves that particular problem.

i am guessing cupra stops it working also ?
Gearbox has two modes, Drive (D) and Sport (S). When you are in S gearbox, start stop doesn't work.

Driving modes are independent of gearbox, you can drive in Cupra mode with D gearbox but the default for Cupra is S gearbox.

Stop / Start systems are down right dangerous, the worst one is when you come to a momentary stop on a roundabout and then you go for a small gap and boom the car cuts out, then as your trying to move off it's trying to start and you look to your right and that 40 tonne wagon that was safe to get a shift on has now almost flattened you as stop / start has just tried to kill you.

Starter motors are also not built forever so the amount of strain on one of those will be immense (yes it is designed with many starts in mind but car manufacturers ideas of 'lifetime' is a 3yr 60k mile warranty period) So anything that can reduce the wear then all the better. I have coded mine out via carista (old model when you were allowed to do so) and now i start the car maybe 2 / 3 times a day as opposed to 20/30, surely that's got to be beneficial for component longevity.
Sounds to me like you need to learn to drive properly

Please explain

i am talking DSG gearbox, which if you come to a momentary stop will cut out when you are not expecting it. Which is highly dangerous.

unless you are one of these people that sit at a rounabout for 15 mins causing a traffic jam behind until there is a gap big enough to fit Wembley inside

??

spot on been there in that exact situation in a golf r so has my brother hence we disabled the bloody thing .

I haven't tried the key from distance yet, I use keyless for door and boot opening. I used key to lock the car couple of times, since there's no option to lock the car when boot is closing. In Audi there were two buttons, one for boot closing and second for boot closing and locking the car.

I tried playing mp4 video today and can confirm it works.
Hi Agnes,
how do you play your mp4 videos?

I've raised this before but starting to think I might go back to dealership regarding it.. my key only works within about 20 yards of the car. Today I got out and windows were open I was about 10 yards away and decided to use the key to put windows up, went a few inches and stopped I tried again, same thing. Had to walk right up to the car and do it.

Could just be the case of a duff battery. I've had no alerts from within the car saying battery needs replacing and I haven't used my other key at all really.

Anybody else having surprisingly short range for the keys though?

I wouldn't say 20 yards, but it is much shorter than my previous car (Leon 3rd gen).

With the keyless entry I don't use it often.

Yeah maybe it's normal, it's my first keyless entry car so maybe just needs a bit of getting used to with it being a different type of key technology etc. I also had a 3rd gen Leon and I was used to the key working up to like 100ft away.

I know I'm just picking and it's not an issue but still.

It works better if you hold it up above your head for longer range, give it a go. You do look a bit of a t*t doing it though ?

Ha yeah I'm aware of that. It's not exactly a problem I need addressing was more of an observation. Pain though if someone needs to get something out your car and your a distance away. I guess the windows up/ down is more of an issue as it's a ball ache if you have to walk pretty much right up to the car for the key to put windows up you will look like a right tit doing that.

Does anyone know if there is a way to disengage the cruise control/travel assist without using the brakes?
