Funny how people start to get negative about a car when they are getting rid of it.

Cupra's are grea little cars imo, mines given me fairly trouble free motoring in my 2years of ownership. They are exclusive compared to other brands and still maintain the VAG build quality in the most impportant areas, engine and drivetrain. Yes sensors and wiring can go amiss. Ive owned several fiats and some french rot boxes in my time, and trust me, id take a Seat over these every time!

I agree, Mine has had few minor problems (elec's and temp sensor) but nothing major (touch wood) in around 2 years of ownership, and apart from 4 tyre's I haven't had to spend much on it.
I am thinking of selling up this year once the MOT due, not cos I dont like the car purely because I fancy the comfort and build quality of a S3. For value for money and looks the cupra gets my vote anyday plus the fact they are very rare unlike Golf's etc

i love my cupra to bits realy ,love the way they looks and the power you get from the little thing, im not being negative but after owning two of these over the space of 4 1/2 years first was a 51 onve yellow onw wich i had for a year and my one now wich is an 02plate wich ive had for 3 1/2 years and i found my self on both of these allway haveing to shell out for something and that shelling out hasnt stoped and that was just things to fix it im not talking abot money spent on mods just repairing the thing geting it running right again and il be 27 this year and me and the MRS are trying to save hard for a house and with a car like this when things are allways poping up out the blue that need to be fixed wich costs money this i not a grate car

The most unreliable second hand car apparently

thats abit harsh isnt it? ive had mine for over six years with only a few coilpacks and a maf gone most peoples problems stem from bodged mods or ebay mods ! and remember these are getting on for 10 years old now! so most of the sensors/bushes will need replacing like any 10 + year old car it just wear and tear goes with the territory really;)

Spot on mate, most second hand cars of the same age will be in alot worse of a condition, especially any french or italian counterparts!

At least you will be still seeing it loads if he does :) not like it's going to somebody who you
don't know mate. Also if you ever want to drive it again then you will be able too

only problem he isen`t known for takeing good care off his cars:think:but i sad if he is takeing over the cupra he has to take good care off it or else i will kick his ass:Dand i`m gone help him to build more on the car:D just need to see if he can get the money.he i getting it for 10000£ dropped from 12000£ and the car has coast me 21000£expensive here in norway for cars[:@]

Been an intresting read this thread. The problems people have had seem just general probs that everyone has experienced at some point. As someone said earlier these are performance cars which have then been 'tweaked' by us so are running more power than they were originally built for and your gonna put more stress on parts that wernt intended to take so much.

Me personally have been through 2 clutches, a gearbox and countless MAF sensors and had plenty of boost leaks in nearly 4 years of ownership.

Its not brilliantly made, its uncomfatble, noisy, rattly, in yellow (which I have) the paint fades badly and its rubbish at fuel economy.

However having said that I wouldnt change it for the world, it still makes me smile driving it and, Ive let friends have a go in it before whilst standing outside and, when you hear you own car from outside being given some beans you can really appreciate it, sounds a lot better than you think and looks great.

Not that im trying to convince anyone to sell/buy one, I just thought I'd wack my 2pence in too.

i thought you sold your car mate

i can honestly say that i havent owned my cupra all that long (although im on my second.) i have to agree with alot of what has been said. The cars are being modded and it puts loads of stress on other parts.

when i was looking for a mk3 ibiza cupra i did my research, coilpacks, clutch pedals, window regulators and MAF's (no doubt ive missed something.) but none of it put me off. The mk3 is 10 years old now, yes it looks out of date next to 59 plate cars, but i love it.

@ p34ch3y, i agree they are difficult cars to have especially if your saving for a house.

could of swar i saw it up for sale a good while ago now on piston heads

you still get down santa pod alot mate

Yeah I had it up for sale but then took it off after a few weeks when I had a change of heart.

Havent been for a while, only one I did last year was GTi in june. Hoping to make a trip or 2 this year but will wait for it to get a little warmer.

had a good long sit down with the MRS last night to talk about funds, house deposit ,saveings ,future exspences expected to be sheld out ect ect

final conclusion is that im now going to keep the cupra :)
