After owning my cupra now for around two months i am considering changing it for the tdi fr.I am still waiting for seat to get back to me about the build quality issues im having with the car and my mates boc at the moment is at the dealers stripped awaiting parts from barcelona due to a noise coming from the engine. my car has also started to make this noise when it reaches 2000 revs and i know its going to get worse and i truely believe the tsi engine can not cope with the amount of power put through it and this is causing problems with it. has anyone got a tdi fr if so what do you think of it and has anyone had any problems with it.

I highly doubt it! The engine has won "engine of the year award" twice. and it has been out since 2006! If the VW Golf GT TSI 170bhp can handle that much power, i'm sure our engines can handle it. Personally, i would take it to VW and have a second check because the TSI engine is new to seat. :)

good idea taking it to vw cos as you say the engine is new to seat and they dont seem to have a clue what there doin.only trouble is would taking it to vw be covered by my warranty

Well, i would just go for a second opinion really. I wouldn't think warranty would be covered.

Knowledge is limited, but isnt everything thats new to you??

Until we have a few problems and work through them you dont get to know them.

Only thing of real concern for me is the amount of tubo's going pop. Hope its not a weak link.

I drove back from cardiff along the back roads this weekend and dont think the turbo got a look in. 50mph in 7th is right in the supercharger zone. 46mpg average over 300 miles. 48MPG for that particular trip. So skint until 27th need this tank to last lol!

I was in North Wales on saturday, 366 miles at an average of 40.2mpg. And thats in a 1.4 Sport, JEALOUS! lol

you would think that been part of the volkswagen group that volkswagen would share knowledge about the problems with it

They do, having spent 3 years with VW I havent changed a turbo on a 1.4 twincharger and only seen one done and that was driver abuse.

Not had a single problem with my TDi FR, (probably be famous last words) and would recommend taking one for a test drive. Lots of gear changing required around town, which is a pain but I don't mind it.
