Tried vagcom section but no use

When i do Autoscan it scans through everything but doesnt find any faults, it just says end of scan in the box on the right

Not a problem for some but my engine management light is on so surely there is a fault somewhere?

If i try to scan certain modules manually, whichever one i choose i get an error box reading 'Controller not responding'

The lead works fine and is found by vagcom everytime

COM port ok!
Interface found

all drivers installed etc, etc

In OBD test it says 'this car is not OBDII/ISO supported

Any ideas???

The autoscan assumes that any controller that doesn't respond doesn't exist, but doesn't actually flag a warning about it. So you won't get any error messages. The manual module check is reporting the correct problem, IE controller not responding.

To me that suggests that the lead isn't quite making contact with the connector, it's something my mate had with his new lead on his A4 very recently. Give it a good wiggle about, and make sure the LED on the connector is lit (most leads have an LED of some kind). And this might sound obvious, but you need the ignition on but the car not running for it to work.

If the lead is being found by the software, then the computer side of things is working.

You also mentioned that you will try 311, does that mean you're trying 409? You should be aware that 409 is not meant to work with 'Ebay' leads, so you might be better off going to 311 anyway.

Thanks for the reply

The ignition is on all times and the led light on the cable lights up fine

I remember reading on rosstech about the 409 not working with ebay leads but I got it with my lead so thought nothing of it lol

Maybe that's the problem then ill try 311 tonight and see if it works

Cheers

Yeah, I got both versions on the same disc with my lead. In the end I actually went back to the Ross-Tech website and downloaded the actual version they recommend. The only thing you do need off the disc is drivers specific to your lead, but it sounds like you're past that point anyway.
