hi, my mk1 leon is poorly. it wont start, then when it does there is no throtle, completly flat. any ideas? i am not in the slightest bit mechanically minded, is this fatal?! any help appreciated.

FBW is Fly By Wire which means there is no actual throttle cable it is all done by electronics.
Have you got the engine management light on at all?
What Mk1 Leon is it? because I'm assuming a LC.

hi, its a Y reg, 2001. 1.6 16v. Yes the engine management light is on. ive taken it to a local garage as dont know what else to do! the old battery was totally flat, so not sure if thats relevant.

Put it on vag com and get codes first, £12 for cable off the bay and basic ross-tech vagcom.
might be injector fault/wiring, tps on either pedal/throttle body, egr valve... infact this is endless.

do you have a throttle cable to the throttle body or a black box on the side with wires to it??

well, the garage have started it a number of times in a row, and its normal. joy. maybe the flat battery was enough to cause the throttle to throw a wobbly?
