remove the driveshafte yes well i did anyway some people may do it a diffrent way but imo its easier its not a tool ul find down halfords either will need to buy from snap on or maybe vag dealer may sell them or mac tools or something simular be prepared to pay £30 ish tho!
what thats a bit steep lol..... how hard is itto get undone? i gav up when we lowered my mates saxo and used a windy gun as the hub bolts were that tight!
not sure if this is the same but when i changed the front shocks on a cailbra you'll find the drive shaft nut is done up to a very high torque around 160lbs, you need a tool to stop the drive shaft turning while you try to undo the nut i found the easiest way was to put a long screw driver though the brake caliber into the vents in the disk as it then locks the drive shift
my rat mk2 was sat on a set of ta technix coilovers at £200 from belgium had no problems with them whatsoever so ill be having another set on my ibiza come pay day. perfectly good for what i want them for
hmmm yeah wit have a go dont have a windy gun any more so a long bar wil have to do ha ha.... think i am going to go for the fk coilovers and fit them myself just hope everthing comes to bits easy.... and goes back on without to much bother he he
you'll need the top mounts mate. i honestly dont see the point paying £400+ on coilovers when the cheap ones are just as good and if they do break they have a good warranty on them.
can i not take the top mounts off my standats shocks or is this pointless? wel i can see where you are coming from but you get what you pay 4 i guess.....
just had a read through all seem ood but i would prefer to buy something that other people have used and have good reviews, im not saying there no good but would like more info off people with these fitted.
those are the coilovers i had on my mk2 golf gti, fantastic bit of kit, never had one problem with and the fit was spot on. couldnt ask for more. they also have extremely good after sale service should something go wrong with them.
get new ones from the dealers. IIRC, about £40 for the pair
they have been known to collapse when people have tried to dismantle the suspension setup to re-use them!
this way you can build up the shock & spring assembly so you can just stick them straight on, will save you a ouple of hours
IIRC, the part numbers have been posted in the MK.4 section before, a search will find them
all ordered today from venom motorsport they seem very good and wil have them to me in the morning! i have never seen what the top mounts look like so i may do the back myself and take it to a specialist to do the front as you need special tools, wil have a look and see how easy it looks lol
