Yeah, there was talk of that when we were talking about intake manifolds some time ago.

Looking again at Ryan posted timing log, I realised I was looking at the timestamp  so his timing is spot on isn't it? CF of 5.3?

If he's saying that he sometimes get's CF of 7 deg then that's what puzzles me on my car - I can spend time sorting it out, only to have it start running 7s...

Going back to the inlet manifold though, I've often wondered if a better flowing one would let you run more timing, as it might keep the average across the 4 down (using Ryan's logs as an example, if a more even flow means that 1 and 4 run less CF, say down to 3 like the other two cylinders - you should be able to advance the timing a bit?).

Probably give jabba a ring next week as i'm sure that above 5 isn't good, would the cold weather make a difference?
Hey steve, all that stuff means that i'm running a lot of timing and might need turning down a bit!!Not sure on the 18th as i might be down there next weekend,i'll let you know.

Okay, perhaps "spot on" is the wrong terminology, "acceptable" is more appropriate.

Revo's SPS3 user guide says 5.3 is okay.

The cold weather should bring lower CF's, god help you when it warms up a little.

Exactly - the inlet temps are really low.

Good luck speaking to them about it. I don't know what they can do to adjust your timing remotely.

It was running through the summer, unless something has changed?
It doesn't seem to like peak boost thats where i see the big numbers.

Summer/winter doesn't make a right lot of difference to how much timing I can run...

Usually "pulls like a train" when it's frosty/cold, but timing always seem to stay the same.

Well there not too far from me if it needs adjustment.
Maybe some other jabba ihi guys can log there cf's?

Maybe pointing out the obvious gents, but peak torque is the point at which detonation is most likely. It's when the most air per revolution is filling the cylinder - hence the dynamic compression ratio is at it's highest.

log of inlet temps with n75 duty,as you can see pretty good.I think it might be the water injection either not working or the service dummy topping it up with screen wash!Emptied and refilled now. Will do some more logging.

I would'nt bother with water injection this time of year personally.
I have'nt used mine yet. It was not mapped to make use of it by request. I wanted it there as a safeguard in hot conditions, heavy load (racing)
may even be hindering your CF's. Try with it off and relog.

Consider this...
Peak boost.... summer less air mass from hotter weather/ambients

Colder weather, peak boost, more air mass from cold weather/ambients - more air charge (density), so a change from ok to not ok if on the edge to begin with can be expected.

What conditions temp/weather wise were there when the car was mapped last?

I cant log easily.
spec way too different.. and getting a gear to grip on public roads to do a pull is risking more than I am prepared to do. (4th or 5th gear pulls req'd on mine with only fwd)

It was mapped in hot conditions last summer, late june, after the ic was fitted.
Probably going to load the water injection with 50% methanol and run some millers octane booster on top of optimax. It's not a daily driver so should be ok.

so mapped on methanol & millers? but not running it now?

no wonder...!

should only really have had it mapped on the worst case scenario you're likely to run

NO! Mapped on optimax and water only.
Going to run millers and methanol to ease the timing.
