I washed my car yesterday.. took about two hours to do it in some degree of detail. When I came to rinse it off I noticed I had the odd spec of black tar/paint/wtf on it. It wouldn't budge with a sponge and sure as hell wouldn't move after a blast with the pressure washer.

I used a finger nail to aggitate the spots.. they shifted but left a very greasy and oily brown smudge on my paintwork that the sponge just couldn't move.

These spots were lurking on my doors and rear bumper; both times behind the wheels as if flicked up onto the car.

Would I be right in saying this is likely to be tar? If so... is there anything I can use specifically to shift this? My paintwork is gorgeous, aside from these annoying spots.

Any advise, as always, very much appreciated.

Petrol will work too, put some in a spraygun bottle and spray on, the tar/ grease will dissolve instantly, just clean well with suds after and good as new!!

Again, ta for the tip :)

I might leave some of the petrol on the car to make for uber-leet flaming ball of Cupra goodness driving down the street :)

Tried all sorts in the past, BY A MILE the best stuff is autoglym tar remover no pressure needed and does not mark paint or plastic and is safe to use !!

Engine Degreasent. (SP) works a treat, the stuff i use is very gentle but it stubborn on dirt.

i only use small amounts on effected areas though

AG tar and bug remover works a treat, IF you use it right.

Apply it liberally... leave it for a minute or so... then go back with a cloth and rub it off and it should come clean off. Do it on a dry car for best results.
