well not R1 spicy but tuned a series engines in them

1987 one had a metro turbo engine, big valve head, bleed valve 2.5" zorst and suspension mods and metro turbo seats about 115 bhp

then had a 1993 cooper 1.3I that had a 1360 block, big valve head with a scatter cam and roller rockers, junked the injector and fitted a pair of 1 and 3/4"su charbs 2.5 " zorst and suspension mods and metro 4 pot brakes

then went for a Cooper s touring with the 90bhp twin point injection and front mount rad upgrade with the jack knight 5speed box, leather, electric windows, remote locking and the fancy wood dash and the 13" wheels it was one of the nicest mini's you could get and it came from the man himself John Cooper in sussex

it used to do 125 mph

the 180 bhp k series engine goes in as a kit these days

back on topic,,,,,, I think you can fit HID's in the post 1997 mini's

Bet it went like stink for something so tiny! Someone I know of (not a friend) got a Metro turbo lump in his Mini and it had adjustable boost - he cranked it right up and frazzled the engine pretty much straight away! Melted it internally. :(

Well done for ditching injection! Worst thing they did to the Mini's! They sound SO nice with a lumpy cam in!

Found that the best way? ;) Mines only a pretty much standard 1.0. Has a stage one but that's it. Had it rr'd and got 47bhp! :funk: Changed my carb needle so I had more fuel at top end.....came home in the fast lane of the motorway over taking everything! BMW 3 series - C4 VTR's. Couldnt tell you the speed as it was off the clock and going back round again! :cartman:
The look on the peoples faces was priceless. :D

Keep thinking about getting rid of it but I think it would be the worst thing I ever did.

Hi

When one of my bulbs died I put in a set of Bosch Performance bulbs - they're bulbs ones, plus they give a good crisp beam. They are pretty cheap too, around £20 pair if you get them from 1st auto bulbs or similar mail order.

The right hand bulb is the Philips X-treme +80%! ithought these were bright when i first got them!!!!!

Real pain in the but to fit the HEIU! Had to take the fuel filter out!:(

All worth it for the end result, only problem now is my side light and main beam look yellow :headhurt:

yeh I have that problem but don't wanna put LEDs in nearly everyone on here who has has them blow all the time and changing them in that bloody engine bay is too painful literally. Good idea where you put that ballast I never got round to tidying up where mine are it was freezing when i fitted them!
You could get HID for the other lights but thats alot of money and where the hell you'd fit the ballasts i don't know for the sake of looks i think its not worth that hassle.

Good stuff

Philips make (or at least used to make) sidelights with a blue/white tinge to them - I got them free with my silvervision indicator bulbs when I had my Clio with xenons. They were a perfect match for the Clio's xenons so I guess they'd be a good match for these.

I think I going to get a set of these for my new Fr just don't like the idea of fitting them, Do you have to take the whole light out or just the back cover and bulb?
