Toledo 1.9 TDI 150 ARL Engine Knocking

I have a 2004 53 Plate Seat Toledo 1.9 TDI 150 (ARL) engine with 90,000 miles.
Just recently i have noticed a low down knocking noise which gets louder when i rev the engine. Its not too loud and it doesn't affect the performance of the car at all and i was searching through the forum and i have put it down to either DMF or Cam.

My question is really (and i know its difficult without hearing the noise, perhaps i will post a video on youtube?) will damaged cams affect the performance of the car as it is running just fine.

I plan to dispose of the car next year anyway and was hoping it would hold out until i send it to the Toledo in the sky.

dualmass will usually alter when clutch depressed
if its bottom end it will alter pitch when reved
if its cams the knock will be at the top end of engine

Have exact same issue and mechanic has told me today its the DMF

Had it looked and turns out its the Alternator pulley! - ill cope with the noise for now, however as I'm trying to sell the car the person buying it saw this post and was scared off!
