I agree with the size of the boot opening being a bit small and you do have to almost climb inside to get things from the back of the boot, probably the only design flaw I can think of with the car though. With the seats folded down there's still tons of space for most flat-pack furniture!

Not sure about the seats in the one you went to see, mine has the standard SE seats and I find them the most comfortable seats in any car I've had.

I agree with the seats. They are really comfy.

The boot is huge - you can fit tonnes of flat pack stuff in there with the back seats down....and even without dropping the back seats.
But squeezing chairs or awkward shapes into the boot is a pain.

Yes i agree the boot is huge, though the small opening would probably hamper getting things in i guess? Though its expected with a saloon the Toledo seemed smaller than most.

Im not sure why this car had sports seats, it was the basic version but it did have air con and the 15£ alloys which look a bit like peperpots. Anyway i found the seats had too much lumbar support for my liking, which i couldnt seem to adjust. Though if there was an adjuster i didnt find it. So i couldnt get comfoy as the seat was pushing in my back.

It drove well though and performed nicely. The dealer said it had been in for two weeks but it later slipped out that it was 2 months, i could tell as it was running rough at first. It had only done 67K miles though and had a good history. I noticed rust starting to appear through on the front wings too, which i wouldnt have thought normal, so probably been repaired at some point.

Id love another Seat though, my tow mk2 Arosas have been brilliant cars, the seats in those are extremely comfortable and ive often spent days in them without getting uncomfortable. They have so much space in the front too, im 6ft 2" and dont have any problems with space.

Since i sold my 02 TDi Arosa last March I bought a 52 Citroen C5 HDi, i bought it from someone i knew and it fitted the bill perfectly. Large, roomy and well equiped. Though its very dull and wollowy to drive, certainly no drivers car. It grips well but puts up a fight for you to drive it slower  So i had that for 8 months and took it to the south of france in the summer too. This one has never been any problems and we still have it, however ...

After that i swapped cars with my sister, she wanted a bigger car and i wanted something better to drive. So ended up with her 53 Peugeot 206 2.0HDi. WHich drives great but its very very cramped, the pedals are so close together and its built badly.

So this got my looking for cars and is when i went to look at the Toledo. I also looked at many other things, even a Mondeo (what was i thinking!)

In an insane moment i purchased another C5, this time a 04reg 2.0HDi VTR spec, which does drive much better than my previous one as it feels tighter and handles better. But its still a huge car and built for motorways - which is handy as thats where i spend most of my time. Anyway, this one has cost me a fortune already and ive only owned it just over a month, its a nightmare of a thing.

So im really not sure what to do now, i still have the 206 which ive just advertised. So once thats gone i might look for something else. Maybe i should have a look at a different Toldeo ....

VAG TDis are very appealing at the moment, as i rarely hear of them going wrong.

Don't want to sway you away from a Toledo but have you considered a Skoda Octavia? Same VW mechanicals as the Toledo but with a massive hatchback if boot access is an issue for you.
Although as you were mentioning comfort of the seats the only Octavia I've been in had the most uncomfortable seat's I've sat in, was like it was solid rock!

I use my Toledo for work and regularly have surveying kit, sample boxes (cool boxes), various big boxes of kit and I manage to get them all in fine; yes it takes a couple of minutes to load but you can get a phenominal amount of stuff in them even before you put the seats down.

I agree the lack of lumber support is strange, considering the other kit that the car has as standard I would have expected it on the kit list; fortunately the seats are ok for me, though a bit more lumber on mine would be nice...
