heya guys/girls

the other half owned a '97 toledo for about 5 years but bought herself something else beginning of this year so it's just been sat about as a 3rd car. my mk1 escort is coming off the road this winter so i'm going to use the toledo which i've now lowered using some old eibach springs.
what i was wondering was.... if it's based on the mk2 golf does mk2 golf suspension fit straight on to the toledo??

& also are there any 15'' steels that are 4 stud pattern??

cheers

Sorry no idea mate, but I would have thought with the Toledo being a Saloon it would carry more weight at the rear therefore need a different setup at the back at least.

I think the earlier pre 2000 VW's/SEATs are 4 stud compatible. So you should be able to pick up a set of 15" VW steel wheels I would have thought - again I've no experience with these so worth checking.

Following the same thinking then, perhaps the suspension setup from the booted Golf might work? It's way past my bedtime though so for the life of me I can't remember what the Golf saloon was called!!

Bumping due to personal interest.

Was fixing the front strut assembly on my 1L yesterday together with a Golf MKII owner and he pretty much confirmed that it's identical to his. However, I'm still unsure about the rear end, so would appreciate anybody who could help out with this.

Is it worth checking out the Jetta setup? If the Jetta is a Golf with a boot, and the Toledo is the same as the Golf, but with a boot (and different badges) I'd have thought you might be ok?

The other option is to join vagcat.com, and have a look at the pictures they have there of the components of VAG cars, to see if you can find a match.

Well, the MKII Jetta might just be a good idea, though I wouldn't think that anything is very different from the Golf, except maybe just stiffer springs/shocks. If that's indeed that case, it should make life for us a lot easier.

I suspect the fixings would be the same across the board, it was the Jetta's stiffer springs and shocks that would work better for the Toledo. Then again, you might find Golfs and Jettas used the same suspension, and they simply ignored the extra foot or so of metal!

Yeah, lol.

Either way, stiffer rates don't mean much to me since I'd rather be going aftermarket than OEM when upgrading time comes round.
