Am I correct in thinking that not all V5s had the memory? Im considering replacing my 1.8T with a V5 170 with the memory function.

I did originally think so, but one of the guys on here says his later Tolly doesn't have the memory. Just look for the three extra buttons on the side of the drivers seat.

Are you replacing the whole car or just the interior? If you are replacing the car, it seems to be a lot of work just to have memory seats! :)

I suffer with a bad back, and every time i have to take the car to be serviced etc it takes me a long time and a lot of pain to get the seat back anything like where i need it! (to be honest the seats in the 1.8t are shockingly uncomfortable for me). I had considered the possibility of swapping the seats over with a v5 interior or maybe one from the A3/Golf if it has the memory function, but i dont know how difficult the wiring is.

Odd, my 2003 03 plate doesn't

From what I've read tyou need the looms and the convenience module too.

I'm currently looking for a Golf mk4 tdi estate to fit mine into:D

You could always go for the electric ones, but disconnect them before you get it serviced. That way they can't move!! That would also allow you to fit them to your car, as it's fairly easy to fit electric seats and just get them moving. It's a lot more to get the memory working, as Dox says it's wiring and modules as well as the seats.

My car is the same as Dox, although in cream rather than black. 2001 51 plate.
