Hey everyone!
One or two of you might know of me but I've been a bit of a lurker but its time to come out of the woodwork and show my car to everyone.
Previously owning a red Mazda RX8, I wanted a new car and after looking round at everything you can imagine, from Evos to Mustangs to Lotus', I finally decided to be sensible and get a car with decent fuel economy and a good modding potential.
I was originally looking at a black K1, but then a Silver Cupra turned up at my local VW garage at almost £6000 less with less mileage as well. So I went down, drove it and bought it with the intention of Revo asap.
I got Revo Stage 1 put on 8 days later and as you well know it completely changed to car from a quick hatchback to something that really does pull like an evo.
My car made 240bhp exactly standard, and 283bhp on a mixture of cheapo fuel and v-power (thanks VW for the nasty fuel lol), so im guessing 290bhp sounds about right once it was pure v-power.
Originally I was going to go just stage 1 and then get a catback for some noise and leave it, however that was never going to happen realistically. I'm the sort of person who always wants more.
Here are some pics I took not long ago,
I then started to look round at exhausts and was trying to decide on make and whether to go turboback or just downpipe, when Poverty decided to sell the stuff of his K1 after he got his Audi. So I managed to get his Blueflame Downpipe and Sports Cat which was then fitted on and I was quite impressed with the difference it made.
The turbo definitely spools up quicker and pulls harder, but it also changed the noise slightly, a tad deeper and louder but also slightly more aggressive. In my opinion it no longer sounded like a diesel lol.
My girlfriends housemate invited me to a trackday at Cadwell Park in October with some of his friends, which I accepted, although I was a bit nervous about being shown up as he has a M3 CSL, and his friends have lotus', vx220 turbo and a supercharged mx5.
I went with them and got the expected jokes of chav, boy racer, hoodies and my car being slow, but once we were on the back roads near there they soon changed their opinion of it. The owner of the vx220 gave me the best compliment by saying '*#%#in 'ell ur cars quick, I had to proper boot it to stay with u!'
On the track it handled better than I expected and I was impressed with the brakes, however it was the raw power down the straights which surprised a lot of people, and I left a few 911s embarrassed
Apart from have nowhere as much grip in the bends as my friends cars, the only negative thing I could say was that it seemed to take an age to be able to get the power down coming out of the slower corners due to the huge torque and fwd.
Here are a few pics from the day taken by the photographer there.
And here is me being chased by my mates CSL.
On 3 wheels!
I let him through on the next straight as I was holding him up in the corners, although we were almost identical on the straights, which pleased me and annoyed him.
I then got some Autotech HPFP Internals from a group buy on vagoc and had them fitted.
After some problems with a sensor snapping and then having the replacement fuel pump incorrectly assembled by chimps at VW.
Once everything was sorted I noticed another increase in torque.
I've just booked my car in for a service and Revo Stage 2 to go on. I decided to wait for the weather to get a bit better before I get a Twintake and go to Stage 2+.
Also deciding on what bits to get to help put the power down.
I've been out in Invisible's car and although his car wasn't running quite right it managed to get the power down much better than mine. He has WALK and some wishbone bushes if I recall correctly.
I just cant wait for the spring so the roads will dry out and I can give it some proper stick again"
