first off sorry if this has been asked but I can't see the answers I'm after

I've got an Ibiza ST on order, and as it's "ONLY" £35 I thought I'd get the tomtom prefit thingy, (I know I need the cradle) My question is "which models fit the cradles?" AND can they be converted for other models eg the XXL IQ Routes version....

If you know of any links showing conversions, even better :)

Thanks

It fits any of the tom toms with the round mount on the back (not all models) I just took my bracket into Halfords and tried it first. I got the Tom Tom XL Live UK model.

....just waiting for the car to put it in! Ten MORE weeks!:(

How difficult was it to make the XL Live fit? Got my cradle, also waiting for my car to be delivered!

From memory:

- Tomtom XL IQ
- Tomtom XL IQ2
- Tomtom XL IQ Live
- Tomtom One IQ Routes Edition
- Tomtom XXL IQ

It's basically all of the 'new' range from Tomtom excluding the entry level 'Tomtom Start' and higher 'Tomtom Go series'

Any good satnav retailer will be able to confirm with one look at the cradle :)

Hope this helps

How well is the TomTom actually integrated with the car audio system? Does the music fade out for the instructions to be read out across the speakers?

Its not linked to the Stereo. It docks on the Dashboard, and charges from there. Everything else works the same as your normal TomTom, ie sound from the device itself.

Not ideal but I suppose it would be better than no nav at all. I don't use the sat nav in my present car all that much anyway.

Sorry about the long wait,
Right the usb plug on the cradle is not quite the right size so needs some GENTLE filing, there are two "lugs" just in front of the ring which also need to be filed away, and the ring it's self needed to be raised by about 5mm, I did this by using some longer bolts and washers to space it and cut a piece of black closed cell foam to fit the gap, ten minutes work, half an hour of swearing!

if you need more info I'll see if I can get some pictures up!

photos would be amazing, if it's not too much trouble. My cradle came today and need a better idea of what it needs to look like post-modifying... thanks!

Hi Trotski,

Something odd here surely since it looks like craigd (see above) managed to fit a TomTom XL Live UK model without having to modify the cradle.

Are you sure your cradle is the latest model? I believe there is one for V3 and another for V4/V5. Mind you on the TomTom website I can't find anything about version numbers so it's not easy to guess which will fit and which won't.

I've got the Live XL Model and the V4/5 cradle (With the round mount) and I can confirm that the sat nav will not fit in without modification!

Anything on your new TomTom to say what version it is?
Do you think *any* of the new ones will fit without modification?

the cradle I've got is 000051785A which is listed as the one to fit TomTom One Europe V4 and IQ Routes.

It WILL fit the XL Live BUT only with some "fiddling" the USB "plug" on the cradle is the wrong size and the distance between the two lugs and the ring on the "ring" part is not great enough.

I WILL post some pictures of what I did to make it fit, takes about ten minutes and some swear words:D when I can get the time, Sunday is looking good!
