What can you do with vag com, i know someone will reply by saying do a search but to be honest i carnt be arsed lol... so would anyone like to reply to this thread by telling me what you can do with it cheers......Danny

I'm not 100% on everything.
but I know you can search for fault codes. So if your car stops for any reason or slows down you can look in vagcom and find out why!

vag-com basically displays all information in the car's computer...so anything electrical will be on it (in most cases)

Its basically what the garage uses for fault finding.
Never seen it used but i guess it scans your ECU for things that are not as they should be.
Then converts the code into an understandable error message?

Dont hold me to that tho, try wikipedia it might have a page for it.

each code brings up a pre-programmed error message, but VAG-Com will show all the car computer settings (including window wiper settings, power steering weight, and much more) not just for fault finding

What can you do with vag com,

What can you do? You can scan all modules in the car for fault conditions. You can view live data from the modules. You can code/re-code the modules. You can perform standard tests supported by the modules in the car. You can do basic settings and adaptations which are only supported by factory level tools.

Have you had a browse through the Ross-Tech website? Have you looked at the Interactive Manual? Have you visited the info page?

In short, VCDS (VAG-COM) is the aftermarket factory level tool that scored 316 points out of 320 points on test run by DEKRA in Germany in March of '09. No other aftermarket scan tool scored so high on any OEM model. It is the product that is affordable for the enthusiast but gives the power of a factory tool.
