ive noticed that many Seat leons come with traction control.

do they all come with this?

and can it be switched off completly?

thanks

LCR's have ESP, theres a switch by the handbreak to turn it off but comes back on when you start the car up

im currently looking at a Y reg, which has been advertised through this website, so im guessing that it will come with it.

i only ask, as i know traction control can be annoying, so i would want it off in normal conditions, and its not that i would want to race everywhere.

Mainly because of what happens if there's any wheelspin, which is fairly often. I'll take wheelspin over the ECU's solution of dumping the boost and closing the throttle. It's a very poor system and doesn't make for a smooth driving experience.

I know on the Fr's ESP was an option and TCS is standard.

According to the 2005 price list ESP was an extra £395.00!

I have found my TCS to being both annoying and useful. Sometimes it will cut the power in a corner and pull the front end in from under steer, but other times such as wheels spin in a straight line it just cuts the boost which can be really annoying.

LCR's all had ESP as Standard
Other Mk1 Leons had a mixture, my y-reg 20vt Cupra just had TCS

To answer the first question I believe the ESP and TCS cannot be turned off completely, about 80% off but it's still on in a very reduced capacity AFAIK

Yea like you say sometimes it seems to work really well in corners and sometimes seems to even work quite well as a sort of launch control.

Then others if you are a bit aggressive with the throttle on a wet hill it just kills the power and you find yourself almost stopped with traffic approaching quite quickly ;)

i found esp useful. theres an art to driving fast without triggering it.

ive also heard that some function remains after switching off.

its on ym 55 reg. it annoys but but does come in handy. was going down the bypass at about 70-80 mph and it was dark n the nearside hit a puddle that i dint see luckily was holding on to the steering wheel firmly n it hit the puddle n the traction control kicked in flashed at me. pulled me right into the puddle but it held, could of been a lot worse. i **** myself.

there is an art to it its just finding the bite parts when you floor it.
the top gear said this is the worse thing about the car but definatly an underdog car. very underestimated.
