i just thought.
1.25 tonne is 1250kg yes? how heavy is the car its lifting?think my octavia is more than that?

Mines 1190kg, so no probs for me. It'll probably lift more than 1250kg i reckon.

It is, but you aren't balancing the whole car in the air on the jack, only taking a proportion of the car's weight. ..........

I just had my Clarke Racing jack delivred, well worth it as i'm fed up of bearly dying when using the dodgy scissors jack...

Was 91 quid delivered....

Just digging up an old thread... never did buy that Michelin Racing trolley jack... £200+ for something I'd rarely use is a bit nuts!

So, I bought one of these Clarke Racing ones instead

My "best offer" of £55 (+ p&p) was accepted... so if anyone else is looking for a good quality 'low entry' trolley jack, go for it! Just over 20 days left to go on the auction...

There are others on ebay, mainly a brand called Arcan, going for £80 - £120 (+ p&p) They're only £69 in Costco, if you know anyone with a card (Cardiff branch are out of stock, which is why I went for the Clarke - and managed to get it for a similar price)

i love the Clarke one but its half the lift weight this one will do and this one has a 360degree swivel for the jacking handle.

only down side i can see is the nuts for the front wheels.

do you guys find these jacks can get under a leon cupra especially the side skirts? I bought a halfords one and its a pain as I have to roll the car onto a block of wood first under the wheel before I can get the jack in far enough to get to the strengthened jacking points.

My local Costco now have the Aluminium 1.5 trolley jack for about £85.

I bought the steel one last summer for about the same price but its impossible to lift so have to roll it around from shed to driveway.

i hate to ressurect yet again. But i've got a Sealey 2 ton low entry and i beleive the max height on this is about the same as the clarke. i can't fit even this far enough under the car to get on the subframe. i've made myself a slotted wooden block out of 4x2 to fit under the sill. I would still prefer to jack somewhere else. In the owners manual for the Leon it shows some alternate lifting points for use when on a hydraulic lift or i'm guessing you could use these points with a trolley jack too but it's hard to figure out from the illustrations where these points actually are under the car.

if you can get it under the crossmember jack it there then once its at the right height get the axel stands underneath

THat's the point. Unless you go out and fork out for a long reach low entry jack whcih cost about a few hundred quid you dont have a choice. I personally always jacked under the subframe or the cross member with the Mk2 but on the LC you don't have a choice as it is simply too low. And once you have jacked it on the sill you may as well just stick the stands under i think people would rather avoid jacking onthe sill where possible tho....... I certainly would.

I have to raise the height of the car by driving on planks of wood which are probably about 2 inches high. then i will just be able to get to one on the sub frame bolts from the side. I'll jack that side up until enough height to fit an axle stand on the far side chassis rail. then I'll jack up the the side which doesnt have a stand from the front which now has sufficient clearance for the jack.

Nice one mate. That looks exactly like where the leon owners manual tells you to jack but it's a lot harder to tell from the owners manual diagram.

This means buying my low entry wasn't a waste of money after all as i think i can reach all of these locations, certainly the back and i think i can reach the front too.

Just bought this jack as well, price has gone up over the years but as on offer just now for £94.98 from Machine Mart (£13 off). It is a lot lighter/smaller than my old Draper trolley jack and could even keep in car instead of the lockup.
