Trunk buffer removal

This is a bit embarrassing, but I have to ask. How do you remove the trunk buffer/stoppers. I read that you have to twist it 90" and then it will pop out, but I can't get them out. I think I'm doing something wrong here.

For anyone doing the same for some reason - Yes it's 90" in any direction and pull out. My damn thing got stuck somehow. I almost broke of the trunk clips that hold it in place. The other one popped out no problem.
