Only just realised the other thread that's running. Feel free to still answer these questions, or it not, mods close this thread please :)

Hey guys.

Been seriously considering getting a TMC Tuning Box for my Cupra recently. Just wanted to ask a few questions about it, first though, I will explain one or two things which I know I will get asked about.

I know people will say to get a remap, but I live well over 100 miles away from the nearest trusted tuner. I don't want to go to an unknown place, and I don't wanna have to drive hundreds of miles if I ever have a problem/want the remap removed.

I currently have a custom cat back exhaust fitted to my car, so I would expect I would need a custom remap to account for this. The TMC box is a generic map, will this matter?

How easy is it to remove the box and go back to standard? If I ever get a problem I will just remove the box and go from there.

What are the gains like over standard? I understand the gains won't be as great as they would be from a remap, but I'm not too bothered if it's just a few bhp.

What modes are available? It says on the website the box is adjustable, just wondered what exactly this means.

It also says on the site that there is a 30 day money back guarantee, so I guess if it doesn't live up to expectations then I could always send it back, but what are the company like to deal with? If they are reliable then I might be even more tempted.

Sorry for the mass of questions, but I've had some bad experiences of remaps in the past so want to make sure everything is in order before I go ahead with tuning again.

Thanks all

Nope it won't matter, obviously a custom map wiil work to include the other modified parts, the TMC box just won't include it as much.

Got my install and removal time down to 10 minutes now, check out the guide I did HERE

Not too sure to be honest, looking to have mine on the Dyno soon but will also have the ITG kit. Hopefully looking at 200bhp, I'd be happy with that. If all goes to plan it will be on the Dyno next month so if you can wait until then I will post the results.

At the end of the box it has a little dial with a number of presents you can change, mine is run on setting 7.

I never had a problem with TMC Motorsport. I've spoken to them a couple of times and always got a quick answer. I know some of people think I big TMC up but I like the product. I do hope that it makes a decent sized gain on the dyno, if not I may look at going to Jabba for a stage 1 generic map.

As said before the midrange feels a lot stronger with the box on and with that and the ITG kit the car lost half a second off the 1/4 mile time at RWYB (slippy) last month. I raced it against a Polo GTi 1.4 TSi and it easily saw it off. Also according to torque app my 0-60 time is down to 5.9 (ran 6.58 at GTI Inters last year as standard).

Hope this helps

Cheers Loz.

Any problems with yours at all? Or have you heard of anybody having problems after installing one?

£300 seems good for something not far off a remap but with so many advantages (removal, ease of install, adjustability etc.)

No problems (TOUCH WOOD!) with mine so far. I used to know a couple of guys that had tuning boxes on their diesels and no problems at all.

Rolling road power graph is now in my RR (also had the ITG CAI on the car)
