just got a 62 plate seat leon 1.6 TDI ecomotive 5dr, and ive already got a few ideas like remap and new exhaust and rims to start tuning, but im just wondering if anyone else has ideas of what else i could do ??

Depends what you want from it and what your budget is like? Though if you wanted a quick diesel you should of bought an FR lol
Im sure theres a million reasons why you've got that car, maybe insurance, cost of fuel, maybe you had it passed down to you etc. But the money youd throw at this put to one side, build youre no claims up keep this in mint con so you'll have no probs selling it. And you'll be one happy man with the next one.
Nowt wrong with getting it mapped, getting some rims on it. And dont take it wrong way![]()

I cant say owt anyway... you no things are bad when you do something to the car and pray the missus doesnt notice as she'll then ask how much it cost.... if she ever gets on here im![]()
got the money to buy a fr i just couldnt get insured on it because of age and area but cheers for advice![]()
Did you end up getting a stage 1?
Am curious, as am thinking the same thing but ATM insurance doesn't want cover it.
Any issues with MOT?
Most places quote around 40BHP and 60-70 NM increase.
Any thoughts?
Yeah I got stage 1 from shark performance, been running it for over 6 months now with no issues so far.
Couple of insurers were funny with me come renewal but I got it via flux in the end for around £50 more than the previous year.
No issues with MOT.
The shark map on paper I think is 135bhp and 295NM so fairly conservative I've not had mine on RR so I don't know what it is pushing out but it's not hard to spin the wheels up now, not really affected the mpg much if at all (in normal driving).
It's a little bit aggressive with the power delivery at times but if you dial the power in a little slower it's fine before you floor it its fine. I only got mine remapped after the stupid VW "fix" was applied as I wanted rid of that.
Been happy with mine nice little extra kick but then I don't really drive it fast and that wasn't my reasons for the map but nice to have it occasionally.
Excellent, thanks for the reply.
I tried Adrian Flux, they couldn't give me a single quote. I am 24, almost 25, 4 years no claims and yet they didn't want to insure me on a remap on Leon Mk2 1.6 Eco 2011.
I might try when I am 25 or wait until April when renewal is up, the insurance is the biggest thing, mot is now cleared as you mentioned it. Endsleigh my current insurer doesn't want to cover me.
I reckon mine was detuned by Seat as well.
I know what you mean about power delivery, even now, it's a little crazy on first and second. I am finding it tough to overtake in 4th and 5th at around 40+ in 4th and 50+in 5th. Have to wait around for the rpms to very slowly increase.
Are you able to cruise at 40 in 4th and 50 in 5th with no vibration from the engine? Especially on a slight hill?
Also, does it now pull well from 4th and fifth at the above speeds? Really curious to know this, as that would really make it a nice drive.
Finally some other questions:
- have you noticed any issues with dpf regens, start-stop
-is your rev limit on idle still there and did the car change in any other way
-have you not get any more mpg than before
-What are you mpg figures
Your experience is really appreciated. I am trying to learn whether a remap would achieve what I think it will.
Thank you.
Manny
I'm a little older so guess that helps.
To answer some of your questions.
1) Cruising at 40/50 in 4/5 is a little better but still a bit labored at times it's deffo still not comfy being in 4th at 30 (the dash gear guide is complete crap) I don't think that 5sp box is the best mating in the world for the engine but guess that was one of the places they cheaped out compared to other models. The remap doesn't cure this although helps a little.
2) When the boost kicks in I find it pulls very well in 4th still runs out of steam a bit higher up in 5th but it's still a small engine small turbo derv at the end of the day, I find it's a little better pulling on the motorway.
3) DPF - this was my main reason for the map... Seat put the emissions "fix" (I use that term loosely) without my consent during some other diag work and after reading all the horror stories of EGR issues straight after etc. etc. I started monitoring my DPF regens with VAGDPF app on my phone with my Carista adaptor. After the fix it would regen every 200 or so miles and stunk... post remap it's back up to every 400-500 miles depending and seems less tractor like during regen too so that's better for me. No issues so far (I do a decent mileage though).
Stop start still works as expected (I turn it off quite a bit though as I don't like it)
4) Never hit the rev limit in the car so I don't know! It does seem to hold the revs sometimes when you are coming to a stop but that could just be something else nothing to do with the map I've only noticed that recently doesn't affect the drive at all.
5) MPG didn't really change much for me tbh... ever so slightly less round town. I've never averaged less than 50 before usually mid-50s I don't really drive it hard at all though and do quite a bit of motorway also.
If you want to drive it hard I find you have to leave traction off otherwise it will cut the power and it will bog down... it does like to spin the wheels but better tyres might help.. I'm running Kumho Ecsta HS51 at the moment which are very good tyres but still in the budget-mid range category.
The only other thing is there is a flat spot in 4th very high up in the revs (you will be close to breaking speed limits here so again never really noticed it but did see it happen once overtaking on the motorway and I can reproduce it, shark said to pop in and they'd check it out but not managed to get over yet)
Overall I'm glad I got it done but performance wasn't the main reason for me in the decision, I knew I wouldn't be driving the car hard either.... it's a family/economy car for me so I wasn't worried too much about putting more strain on clutch etc. I tend to cruise like an old man most of the time haha.
Hope that helps.
