Had my car in for a service yesterday and the garage told me I had a split in one (or more) in the hoses under the inlet manifold. Explains why the car has been down on power. Iv had a look ad there are 2 with oil residue on them..
I want to replace them myself to save the pennies, but is it possible to do this without taking the manifold off?

Cheers

Do you mean the breather hose? If so, Awesome do a replacement in silicone for that and the breather on the right hand side, both are prone to failing.

Yeah, I meant the breather below the inlet manifold. Comes as a set with the right hand side breather :)

I did mine myself, its a bit tricky but doable, getting the circlips off is the worst bit. Those pipes aren't cheap from the dealer too, and don't forget you'll need new jubilee clips to re-attach

just replace that pipe with sone vacuum piping from local motor factors.

i did and it cost £2.50 to fix.

youll have to remove a metal tray to get to it, only 4 allen key screws though.

pull the circlips off with the pipe, pull hard enough and they will come off the 2 nipples.

warninh one of the nipples is slightly larger than the other so you will need 2 sizes of vac piping... i just bought a selection....

What is the left hand pipe that is next to the oil breather that is under the manifold?
Its taped to it further back but I don't know where it joins to?
It is made of the same crap so will probably fail also and I would like to replace it.

I have spent most of the long weekend trying to access the area under the plate and cut my knuckles to shreds.[:@]

Sorry to bump an old thread but James could you please tell me (if you remember) where the second nipple pipe joins to? I have replaced one for the N249 mod but I can't work out where the other is going?

the nipple under the inlet manny goes striat to the fpr when not bypassed, when bypassed you t off the fpr and to the dv top nipple.

I have done the T piece from under mani to fpr which is under the right hand side but there are two nipples on the left hand side under the manifold. One is connected to the lower breather hose (which leads onto the rocker cover breather hose). The other is part of the PCV but I don't know where it leads to or which pipe it connects to.

This is an AUQ engine btw.

the other one goes to the pipe that connects to the pcv valve, this one has larger diameter to the valve than the inlet manny nipple

This one ? :p

Ok I have edited my previous post as I was confusing everyone and myself. I will try and get a picture of it on here in the next few days.
