As a turbo has a silencer part on it, say on the 130 and 150 turbo, does anyone know if this is a separate part or is it part of the turbo? In otherwords if you bought a new turbo would it be on it?

no it's seperate.
On the 130/150 it's on the 1st U-shaped tube coming off the turbo (boost side). The tube will have 2 donut shaped rings on it (these are the silencers).

yeah thats the part i was on about. But when someone buys a new turbo does it come with it? or does it have to be bought separately?
ive seen some pictures of VNT 17s, the pictures ive seen dont have the silencer, the outlet seems one piece with the turbo housing, is this right or am i missing something?
IIRC the silencer has a 3-bolt flange that holds it. I will check to see if I still have the picks.
came across a couple of pics, both VNT 17s, one has a silencer and the other turbos outlet hasnt, all one piece with the housing, so it must be a case where some have them and some dont, im quite sure my PD130 hadnt and a mates PD150, i know its not important but interesting 
my old turbo certainly looked like the 2nd turbo pictures, 1st one looks like a hybrid. Need to check further.
maybe they changed for later cars? i couldnt get a part number on etos for it either for the year 2003, il go back further and see if its listed.
pretty sure they did change some stuff in '03.
know that the intake went from 100% Al to plastic and that some of the turbos had a seperate exhaust manifold (instead of all one unit). Will try checking.

Yeah it appears from 2002 they done away with the turbo silencer. The boost outlet hose on the PD150s had a different part number in 2001.
I was looking at a new GT1749VB turbo today, outside is same as a PD150 turbo and the inside (turbo dynamics inside ;-)) It has no silencer. Hose connects straight to it. Will post pic soon.

Turbodynamics stage 1 is 925 +vat, 50 cheaper.The difference is that it uses aGT17 wheel whereas the stage 2 uses a 2275 wheel, not sure what that is off though.
which is the better setup 4 say 210bhp , reliabliability is a must, no rebuilds , given a regular thrashing

HI micky 32 have you had chance to fit your new turbo that stage 2 turbo dynamics what stage does that equal from allard i was going to order a stage one turbo dynamics but craig said it was only good for 220bhp and i was looking for 250bhp just wondered how much lag with the stage 2 td cheers for any info albertreddog
im not sure what the turbo can do, but they supposed to have stage 1 and a stage 2, according to the specs the stage 1 is good for 220 and stage 2 260. one in the picture is a stage 2
