Yep that's what I'm on about anfmd what I hate.

Only 182 Clio off was off, and on my evo it just didn't have and lol

i turn mine off all the time for a bit of fun , gives the driver the control back.
i have had a few scary moments when its off and tbh it hasnt come back on to help me out.

for those of you that havent tried it you havent driven your cars the way you should lol.

dont you hate it when you go to boot it and the esp kicks in saps all the power and you just learch forward then the power comes back , with esp off its how it should be no dramas just power , when i passed my test and got my cars there were no fancy gismos to turn off and on , just your feet and hands to make any corrections.

exactly.

been racing kart and cars since age off 11, car aids kicking in just take away the enjoyment.

Although i do agree with /dev/null that they are a safety feature, if your going to push the car to the limits and have the esp kick in when theres pedestrians around then thats another issue

so no way to do it? I'd have been stuck in the snow last year if I hadn't been able to totally disable my TC on my last car.

And def no need to jump down someones throat just because they asked! Ja5on DIDN'T say he wanted to turn it off while weaving between your daughters at 90 or anything, just asked a reasonable question. So a reasonable answer would be the decent thing to do. The more you understand about the car, the better you are able to care for it and drive it well.

PS, you do realise you are driving around on 55L of explosive chemical gunk?

Anybody who has hit a patch of diesel on a motorway/sliproad etc will I'm sure back me up when I say there's very little you can do to prepare you for it. I certainly owe a lot to the ESP when I did it.

Trucks don't genrally drop fuel on straight roads, but go on how did it help?

If pedestrians are around should you be pushing to the limits however, with it switched on you could argue you can go faster before you reach your limits so this could make matters far worse, for some drivers. . .

Interesting :) look forward to trying it for my self (yes, I have a safe play area to use). Would point out tho, that is TV, so pinch of salt all round. Shown 3 different fails for the up hill ice, but only the run up success. The miss obstacles test, wtf is he doing 70 on a sheet ice motorway for!?

In the old car, once I was moving the tx was back on, but it -needed- to be off to get me started. And that was proper get moving or get stranded at one of the high passes on the a9 situation. Do have some snow socks now tho :)

I didn't realise how 'clever' the ESP system was, so personally, I'll be leaving it on. With regards to traction control I'm pretty sure (but I'll check) that the manual says to turn it off in snow/ice which kind of goes against what's in the video.

i hate the drivers aids too. the tc really does my head in. as soon as you give it some off the lights flash flash and a big lull in power, a right pig when you havn't planned for someone trying to match your speed on the inside lane. I havn't tried hard enough to get the esp to kick in when its turned off but i'm sure it'll get under my skin when i go for a trip to the nurburg.

traction controll is near always off on my car unless its wet or snow on the road if your going out for a good drive on a nice dry road turn traction controll of the car will only do what you make it do ive never had a car with it untill i bought the leon and never had any problems. jason i no what your geting at its happened to be aswell suprised me one night:rofl: :drive1:

I can understand you turning it off on private roads, no kerbs to hit, no hedges to plow into, no NCB to lose, no people to mame or kill?

But... you've got to admit it's a pretty good bit of kit... Pretty soon ESP will have to be fitted to every car so when that happens I doubt you will be able to switch it off at all.

i have the same problem, with my 08 leon(pre fl) when the esp was off it was properly off, but on my now 11 plate leon when its switched off you can still feel it holding you back, the leons have good lift off oversteer and now its impossible to do, i have heard taking out the abs fuse will completely turn off but havent tried it yet

Ja5on is it a new car you have? I.e post 2009 car? As what you might be feeling is the XDS kicking. It uses the brakes to act like an LSD even with stability turned off. we took a Scirocco R on a track day and it felt like there was something stability related working in the background but turned out to be the artificial diff.
