I have an Altea 2.0tdi Stylance Sport with DSG and have developed a tremendous noise problem with the factory fitted Bridgestone Potenza 225 x 45 x17w tyres.

The noise started at the rear after app 10k miles and after changing the tyres Front to Rear on each side the noise is at the Front together with some steering wheel vibration, particularly when cold, and at about 8 mph. This noise peaks at app 25mph.

The affected tyres have worn in a "scalloped" manner on the inner edges - presumably caused by the camber of the rear wheels. This "scalloping" is no doubt causing the noise and vibration problems.

I am now investigating buying two new tyres for the front and ask for any recommendations please.

I am looking at Firestone TZ200's as a cheap option.

Any comments will be gratefully received by me

exactly the same happened on one of my rears, same tyre as yours but only 205/55/16, changed it (other one was fine) and the noise went, I went for a Kumho (which was a slightly cheaper option), seems fine so far.

Just to complete the thread I have now had fitted 4 x Barum Bravuris 2 tyres.

The car is now very quiet again and the first impressions are that the tyres have the same grippyness and responsiveness as the original Bridgestones.
