i have 205 50 16 tyres on all 4 wheels but the rear 2 need replaceing asap.if i was to put 205 55 16 on would there be any issues with this?just the same tyres in the 55 profile are roughly £40-50 cheaper.any help or comments welcome

as long as they are on the same axle and matching Left and Right then no issues at all

might get a minor speedo discrepancy if on the front - but it is minimal and as they are a slightly higher profile but 5% isn't going to affect much if the car is otherwise standard all you might notice is a little more roll and a softer ride to be honest

i did similar on the std rims as i was fed up of crashing potholes as the roads suck round here - fills arches up nice too :p

spot on mate much appreciated.i think the standard size of tyre was 205 55 16 but somewhere along the line the got the 50s on.there eagle f1s so any money i can save on them is a bonus as the wear on them aint brilliant

if you have the handbook and i think inside the fuel flap it will list standard size

205-55-16 does ring a bell for mk1 cupra for sure

probably down to 50's by chance to try and get some better handling - day to day you wouldn't notice much really

yer i think i changed them when i first got the car but the extra cost dont seem worth it now so mit e aswell go back to the 55s.thanks again buddy
