Hi

I need some new tyres for my Altea 2.0TDi Sport. The tyres that are on it now are 205/55/16R. I have searched for these tyres everywhere and there are very few manufacturers that do this size. However, when I search for tyres according to my registration the tyres it brings up are 205/55/16V. The speed rating for R is 106mph, where as the V is 149mph. Just wondering which is right. I bought the car with 15,000 miles on it so not sure if tyres have ever been replaced. Could anyone else check what they have on there Altea and let me know.

Thanks

The R means it's a radial ply tyre.

Take a look at your tyre, there should be another two numbers, followed by a letter.

This will be the load index (carrying capacity) and the speed rating.

For example, the number on my LCR tyres is:

225/40/ZR18 92Y

You'll probably find the V rating is correct for your car :) In fact, I'm certain your standard tyres would definately not be an R speed rating!

Hi

Thanks

Just had another look, further down it says 205/55/R16 91V, so I guess these were the original tyres. Michelin Energy????
