Hi guys,

Purchased a lovely Mk 1 '02 plate Leon Cupra over a month ago. Car was running great with no problems and then a week ago it had a couple of 'hiccups' and the EML came on and stayed on since. The car has been fine most of this week although now she is not idling well at all (needle bouncing around) and is very hesitant on low revs, seems much better with your foot down.

I'm new to the Seat brand and have been looking on this forum for answers but without vag.com I'm unsure what I can check myself? I first thought coil packs but what I read suggests the EML will flash if these fail?

I posted a message on the vag.com section asking if anyone was local to me that could plug it in but got no replies :(. Anyone in North Herts by any chance??

This is arguably the most complicated car I've ever owned (give me a carb and I almost know where I am:)), with so many sensors and electrical components I'm totally unsure where to start.

Any help/assistance/direction greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Mark

It really does sound like a coilpack or maf, you can pick up a cheap cable for a tenner on eBay these days and download the shareware version of vagcom and it will probably tell you what's up otherwise you will be troubleshooting in the dark.

Only other thing worth a try is to unplug the maf and see how she runs.

I have ordered vag.com to review the fault codes. I did unlug the MAF and she idled much better so I guess it's that that has failed?. Another orange light on the dash came on (the TSC one I believe) though. One question, is it safe to drive with the MAF unplugged or is this test purely for idling only?

Many thanks,

Mark

Dnt drive with the mad unplugged for too long mate, so ur sayin with the mad unplugged the car is fine again? Cause ur symptoms sound like a dirty throtle body to me , id say try cleaning dat first using carb cleaner isit gona cost 5 quid

ok - many thanks for the replies.

I'll give cleaning the TB's a go first. Once I get vag.com I'll post my codes up (hopefully!) just to verify before I purchase anything I don't need.

Many, many thanks.

Hi guys,

My copy of Vag.com arrived and after a couple of hours getting it working on my laptop the following codes appeared:

17705 - Pressure drop between Turbo and DV
01314 - Engine control module

Cleared the codes and the EML is now gone but what can actually be checked on the DV as it suggests to get it checked? Is it referring to a possible leak of pressure somewhere in the pipes?

Many thanks for all your replies so far - much appreciated.
