Better safe then sorry!! Not worth the risk like you said . What does a cam belt kit , tensioner , and water pump ? £100-130 ??
Not like they can charge you mega money to fit it either. Engine will be stripped so should be a easy fit .

I have a freshly rebuilt K04, Built by beach buggy turbo.
it's not been fitted since the rebuild and still has 12mths warranty.

The turbo has uprated bearings. If your interested let me know.

Not really bothered about uprated bearings as other than mapping the engines fairly standard but interested depending on how much... :)

£152 is what I've been quoted for new bits £700 for total labour inc cleaning all the oil from the intercoolers etc, not looked for cheaper bits, tried Serve motors but no reply once again, even used his personal email as suggested by the man himself!

I'm open to suggestions for new parts too, thought a dealer on here would be cheaper but its getting replies I'm struggling with :-(

Nothing worse then wanting to get your motor fixed. Bad time of the year to do it. David @ sere will get back to you . Always has for me . Prob still not back at work till tomorrow. Gsf would be a good go for water pump , cam belt etc......
Could you not do any of the work yourself to keep cost down ?

I'm in Blackpool, I've got another thread on the go which says what's wrong but basically my turbo has play, the case is cracked, the inlet pipe is ripped, a few hoses are gunged up so feeding Mayo into my engine instead of air, manifold is cracked & head gasket is starting to fail. Furious as I've been telling the vw stealers there is an air issue for probably knocking on 3 years, they've linked it to their computer and charged me god knows how many times, they've "checked" the houses & keep telling me I'm imagining it because he runs well for a car off his age. So basically I've not dated to take him over 65 mph or 4k rpm for over twelve months!!!:-(

Thats the thing with dealers, If the computer says its fine thats as far as most go.

How bad is the play in the turbo? Some play is fine, even new turbos have a small amount of play which is taken up by the oil.
What makes you say the head gasket is failing?
My Turbo inlet pipe also ripped right where it connects to the turbo.
Good chance to upgrade with a badger5 TIP.

As for the breathers the best option is to do a PCV delete.

He's been running dog rough for years & getting worse, failed on a compression test so got taken to pieces. Mechs recommended I have it skimmed & new gasket fitted, valves reseating & the rest is necessity...I don't really have the tools (Im a lady decorator not a mechanic), nor do I have garage space ( my pulsar's in there) so struggling a bit on the DIY front :-\

My turbo's badly cracked on the casing too which is why its beyong repair, had arranged to get it looked at tomorrow but found it to be dead when it was removed :'(

GSF??? Can you elaborate please?

I'll try the continental kit (???) at £96, still need the water pump but £20 cheaper is £20 cheaper, just need to know where I find one...eBay???
