It can be a direct replacement if you get some SFS billet connectors to fit into the end of the hoses/pipes as the upgraded SMIC does not use the spring clip system to hold the pipes on.

I replaced the turbo hose, pancake pipe and the intake pipe from intercooler to EGR, and, er, replaced the EGR with an EGR delete pipe too! So no more spring clips for me.

awesome, where bouts did they come from?

You got a link to show me what these "Billet Connectors" are? Are they something like this?

If so, how do they work? By what you're saying, I'm guessing they'd be required to fit this bigger SMIC?

I tried fitting this today and it doesn't meet up to the standard pipework at all, the inlet and outlet are at the wrong angles to fit to the pipes and the mounting points are completely wrong.

I assume it is only for mk3 1.8ts but this isn't explained in the ad, gonna message turborevs now to see if i can get a refund.

It could be made to fit if you were buying hoses separately but is not a direct replacement for those interested!

I can be made to fit probably if you replace some of the standard pipework. How far wrong is it? Probably more suited to the Golf 1.8T? I thought the early 1.8Ts used all the same SMIC? (I know the TTs and LCRs had twin SMICs) Maybe not.

messaged the company, they said " it will fit the tdi FR but will need different connectors"

might give it a miss, seems more hassle than its worth

I got a full refund from them. it could be made to fit with extra pipework, you would need some silicone elbows i would imagine, cant remember how far off it was, just remember that it was if the inlet and outlet pipework came in at the opposite angles that it needed to be at, not sure if that makes sense, cant really describe it.
