Help - in need of new front tyres. Priced up a few Bridgy's @£88 ea, Dun Sportmax £99, Contis @ £102 or Nexens @ £68.

Looking at Bridgy's but are they any good for Altea? Which would you go for?

Cheers

Hi i got a great deal about a month ago from Event tyres for 2 P7's extra load for £160 fitted. Plus they came out to my door and did it there. Get to stay in the warm while he fits balances and takes the carcasses away BONUS:clap:

Had Bridgestone's on mine from new, good wearing, responsive steering, grippy, but maybe a tad noisy ???, changed to Michelin PRIMACY HP's, noticeably softer/smoother quieter ride, only downside is a little hard to explain fully, but the steering response is not quite there like it was with the Bridgestone's, just as good grip, but not as sharp feeling.

Not sure if that helps at all , just out of interest, where are those prices from ?

Urgent?

Oh well. I have Michelins on mine (Primacy HP) and always found them very good for road noise and life. £89 per corner fully fitted beats the hell out of Nangkang Ditchfinders. Those are on 16" wheels mind you.

My local tyre fitter just a couple of hundred yards from the door does mine on the car. That's his standard price for Michelins, and his lad who does the tyre fitting is ultra careful and always happy to talk about tyres / cars while fitting 'em.

Torque wrench for tightening the wheel bolts (copper grease on 'em aswell), proper stick on weights, new valves, proper balancing, carcass disposal. But never any damage is the main reason why.

Hmm, just checked Camskill for Michelins, and they want £89.04 plus carriage just for the same Primacy HP tyres, but with V rating rather than W rating on mine.

Hi Phil

Prices are from a local mobile tyre service called IDS Tyres. Got my last tyres from them and found their prices and service excellent.

Had Dunlop D9000 the last few times as, for me, they last very well - 4k miles more than others I've tried. Not tried Michies tho as they are generally £100 each more!

Currenly running that size tyre, Conti premium Contact 3's.
I know from previous tyres (16's with premium contact 2's) that they are known for soft compound but have found them to be excellent in wet and dry conditions (that is until they start to run low (2-3mm)
Cannot comment on how long they will last as only covered 6K on them, would envisage changing fronts by about 12K and Rears will probably last twice as long.
Got 4 for fitted balanced etc for £85+Vat a piece so thought that was a pretty good deal at the time.
