Hi,

Just wanted to ask a quick question about the USB port please as I'm considering oredering it on me new 1.4 Ibiza SC Sport. Do the USB and aux port have some kind of cover like the Leon's or are they always open (and if so won't the dust affect them)? If someone could post a picture of the usb port without anything attached i'd appreciate it as I couldn't find any online.

Thanks

They are not covered.

Heres a pic i took recently so you can see where they are situated

dust will not be a problem with normal car use i am quite sure

They are nicely tucked away from view, took me a while to find where it was when i first got my car :)

Would reccomend getting it because then you can control the ipod through the radio or use a USB stick for music.

(after buying a cradle)

Thanks for your replies :) Yes i'll be using them though I wanted it mostly to use with my usb stick (i'm old school and don't have an ipod ;p).

Do the ports though feel a bit 'tacked on' or do they go nicely with the design of the centre console as from the picture the aux port looks a bit out of place?

Thanks again

Can you retro fit the usb adapter if one doesn't come with the car and has anyone done it? I have a 320GB HD to stick in but the car only has a Aux plug. Sorry if this is noddy but we havent picked up the car yet so haven't had a good look yet. I understand that the stereo's are all the same so was hopeing to just plug a lead into the back and position it somewhere.

cheers

I wouldn't say they're as integrated design wise as the ones you'd get in a facelift Leon but basically when sitting in the car you can't see the ports - they're right in under the centre console.

Cant be retrofitted - though you could get an aftermarket kit from dension, though I don't think it's functions as well as the factory fitted option.

When I ordered my car I paid for the usb and it came without it! Was told by yhe salesamn that it could be retro fitted but all they did was fit the Dension unit which is a wire coming from behind the console with an iPod connector on it. Anyway I put in writing that I was rejecting my car as it does not meet spec and they are trying to get a work around with SEAT to retro fit a usb. If nothing comes of this I will be pushing on for a new car.

I dont see why retro-fitting the original USB is such a hard job?
All it'll be is a different piece of plastic in the centre console containing the usb port and aux-in socket, the usb box of tricks round the back of the headunit with the wiring to go to the usb/aux-in points. and if you wanted to be fussy, a blanking plate for the standard aux in socket, though that can be covered by the flap and left alone.

I agree!

However, I went for the dension kit and it works as well as I could have hoped for - nicely tucked away in th glove box, all the info comes up on screen, can use the steering controls and browse songs, artists, playlisys etc

If you want to do it factory not so.

I took one apart (think I still have the photos) and the control unit sits above where the port is, its a complete new panel that is screwed in after cutting the bottom of the dash out. And the control unit was over 250 quid when I checked.
