Can anyone tell me when you use vagcom/vcds software and cable to turn settings on and off on your car does it void the warranty of the car and can the dealers tell that you have been messing about with settings if they plug there diagnostic computer in.

they will try anything to get out of paying
and yes they can if they wanted to
also if you have any software updates on any of the ecus it will revert it back to factory settings/specs

Many thanks I don't want to do loads of things one thing I want is to turn the cornering fogs off as they drive me mad with people saying you only have one working when I turn the wheel.

They shouldn't do as they did say anything to me about it and I was made to buy a new ecu to maintain warranty after to remap

Unfortunatly not due to car only just coming back from dealer and me being quite busy with work so this weekend it will be getting glued and hopefully fitted next week once ive figured out where to get exhaust fitted

As long as you don't enter any data in the workshop name or dealer and import numbers then the cable will run undetected.

Each dealer tool has its own import, dealer and equipment numbers which can be detected as background info if the dealer sends a fault scan log to VW group HQ, they can see the last 10 pieces of equipment used on the vehicle but if there is not data then it can't store it.
