Nah, the passenger door lock has been faulty for a while, I desperately need to fix it because one of these days it's going to stay deadlocked, and then I'm screwed!! The door lock and leaky door seals are on my 'to do' list, to be done eventually.

I think your car should work fine, I'm almost sure I've already done an 05 plate Ibiza. I know the 05 plate Leon I tried didn't work, but the Leon's got the CANBUS earlier than the Ibiza's.

Yeah, definitely dont want it to deadlock!

Problem is its so much more fun doing mods that dont need to be done than doing jobs that need to be done... :D

I think the CANBUS came in on the 06 plates didnt it. How many peoples cars have you done this to then, you seem to be the pro at this stuff.

I think I'm up to about half a dozen now? Two in Derby, the others came to my house (and mine obviously!). There was only one I couldn't do, an 06 Leon if I remember correctly. It was definitely CANBUS that stopped me, I couldn't even get in using the bog standard VAGCOM.

Just got vagcom so learning myself. A thread full of things would be great. I'm currently starting a word document to put a few bits and pieces in. Auto windows would be a good addition!

Why not upload it to google docs so people can collaborate on it? :)

Instructions below:

You can't do this from any windows version (Dos only!), with any USB interface or with VAG-COM or a VW 1551 tester.

Use the following procedure to reprogram the module

1. start vds from boot disk + turn ignition on(not start car)
2. connect to central convenience (46)
3. start login procedure (11)
4. use the code 19283
5. read serial eeprom (26)

Check memory locations:
04361
04362
04363

They should show up with 2 lines of values just look at the 1st value on the dec04361 line it should read 10

for all 3 memory locations the 1st value should be 10

6. write serial eeprom (27)

you then type in the 3 memory address again:
04361
04362
04363

and put the new value as 2

You can now read serial eeprom (26) again to check that the 1st value in the memory address's has been changed to 2

7. end output (06)

Close program and disconnect from car

Job done! Same way as the mk4 golf is done, so might be just as well asking on uk mk4's or something? I know a bloke that could do it for you (did mine tonight) but he lives in teeside, which I'm guessing is over 3 hours each way for you :(

Yeah thats what i was thinking i think my old man might be able to lend me a cable from his work as well but i dont have a laptop with a serial port on it, and im struggling to find anyone that does! [:@]

I think my desktop at home should have one on though so i might plug the extension lead in and hook that up to the car. I assume the VDS-Pro cd that i have will work in a desktop as well as a laptop? Just boot from disc on startup?

I had considered that while you were at my place, but my PC is a little large to do that sort of thing! You also need a screen for obvious reasons. Apart from that it will work fine, as you say just let it boot from CD and you're sorted.

Will a 25 pin serial port work? i have one of these cables but don't want to go through the hassle of getting my PC out of the Media unit to try it if it wont work...!?

Cheers.

25 pin ports are usually parallel rather than serial? Although I have also seen 25 pin to 9 pin convertors. The only thing I would say is that the software is already configured to use the serial port, if you have to reconfigure it to look at a different port then you may have to do a bit more research. And from what I remember, the biggest problem with VDS Pro is getting it configured, that's why the bootable disc is so much easier.

The VAGCOM leads are only 9 pin though?
