Note: Please note that this is an ADAPTER CABLE not an interface cable. It should not be attached directly to your laptop - you will need an interface between your cable and laptop

Then again, the serial connection may deliberately be that simple.

After re-reading it, it doesnt sound to promosing like you suggest. plus the cheap price made me think twice!

Might have had some luck though as StephanJ PM'd me and said about meeting to have a crack with his stuff and the VDS-Pro CD that you leant me so with the instructions that ScottHmk4 left i might be on a path to victory at last :D will be so happy when i finally get it done. :funk:

Still on the search for a local to help me out with this if there is anyone willing?!

I had the PC hooked up to the car the other day with a cable i brought from ebay that said it was a VAG COM cable but i just couldnt get VDS-PRO to recognise the car! tried so many things from the internet but to no avail! Dammit.... [:@]

Try getting vagcom working with the lead first, at least that's a bit more user friendly to get it working initially. And if vagcom works then you know the problem isn't with the lead.

Nice one Scott! :)

That page made me smile though, I think it's just a 'lost in translation issue, but apparently the new version of motordiag will allow switching between left/right driving... :D
