Ok, been out tonight for a meal. Parked up engine temp was on 90 as normal. had a meal, few drinks (non alcoholic), got in car, started driving to the gf's local (bout 6 miles away). Engine temp on normal.

Started coming down a hill bout a mile from the destination and had to over take some slow ass sausage muncher and my mate, as i hit about 100mph in 5th i think i felt a jolt like a misfire and then the TCP light came on and traction control turned off.

When i pulled up to the car park the engine management light turned on. my mate said something smelt not good after i overtook him.

Had a drink in the pub, got in the car both lights still on. Drove to the pub up the road to check under the bonnet as its out of the way of houses. Checked for any strange noises, or any visible problems. Alternator/steering pump etc belt was still in tact, coolant level is fine, will check oil 2moz. Told the Mrs to hold the revs at 4000rpm to see if there were any unknown sounds, engine temp was normal, All was fine

Drove home (about 6 miles) at the speed limits, car drove fine, gave a little push to check if it would still pull, was fine, no strange noises etc

It has felt as if it has been misfiring since i bought, only at about 2000rpm in 2nd gear or so

Im worried this might be a large problem. Can anyone give me an insight at what could be wrong?

im going to a garage i know to get the fault codes checked to see if any appear

Any help is greatly appreciated as im pretty much crapping myself as i dont need a shed load of money to come out on a car ive only had about 2 weeks

misfires could be down to faulty coilpacks, do you know anyone in your local area with vagcom software? maybe worth posting up and see if someone can run it on your car, if its coil packs you will get multiple misfires detected and may give you more of an idea.

With the smell as well (eggy?) it sounds like coilpacks to me, even Holders shouldn;t be able to c0ck this one up ;)

What car have you got by the way? just in case I see you around......;).....as I regualrly see a yellow and black LCR

Unfortunately TSR in Bridgwater are no longer trading so Westec in Newport are a good independent.....depends where you work etc

ok, whoever said MAF needs a pat on the back. I need to get one of these lil bad boys. anyone know best and cheapest place? And where is it in the engine bay

Also one code that came up was "turbo/throttle valve pressure lost"...any ideas?

I should have a Vag-Com cable appearing thru the post 2moz so anyhelp on usin that would be helpful

MAF "may" just need cleaning.might be a cheaper to try this first. i think your dealer may except it on an exchange basis as they sre known problems within VAG.this may just be certain dealers, otherwise they are around 80 quid i think

Just replaced my MAF for about £50 (after exchanging the old one) from Eurocarparts.

You can see the MAF sensor in the 11th post in this thread:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=66692

Its sticking up just between the 2 jubilee clips on the air intake (big pipe near the back on the right side of the engine). Its literally just a 2 minute job to remove the 2 clips, and fit the new sensor.

thanks for the help guys. Got it sorted. The MAF came friday morning. fitted in 2 minutes. Plugged in my new VAG-COM cable, read and removed the trouble codes and all the lights are off! Im so much happier now

I just need to get a service now and Seat will cost about £140 (all my services in the book are done by seat bar 1)
