Hello All,

Strange one, so please bear with me whilst I try to explain it.

I have some kind of weird strange vibration sound like something is loose and I cannot pinpoint it.

I will explain when it happens

  • Slight let off of throttle..
  • Certain revs
  • It's like vibrating rattle sound

Anyone got any ideas?

In or out of gear?
 
With me.out of gear.dsg with only 43k so didnt think wud be the dual mass.thought the dsgs were lighter on the flywheels.is mapped mind you.sorry bout high jacking
 
dual mass flywheel are prone to rattles and vibrations hence single mass conversion heavier flywheel.

sounds like pressure plate clutch juder or something related.


Not sure on dsg. That said could be engine mounts or loose aux belt etc...
 
Tensioner Pully on the Cambelt drive train? Get someone to slightly rev the car and let the car return to idle. You should be able to hear if its coming from under the Cambelt cover. If it is switch it off and tow it to your preferred garage to avoid issues!

Quite possibly?

I need to check the cambelt cover, as when it went for it changing - they hadn't clipped it back yet and I'msure I did at the time but could have come loose.

It's a strange sound, but also annoying. I do 40 miles a day and spend a bit of it in traffic too so bit worried.

OK so I have monitored it today and can report back the following.

It vibrates/rattles at 1250-1500rpm only, happens in any gear and even when revving in neutral. I notice it more as I keep my revs between these points.

I am thinking an heat sheild?
 
I had my belt, tensioner and Pully (kit) replaced on my cupra r mk.1 the tensioner failed after 4 months. Lucky I spotted the noise it was making before it caused damage!

Your symptoms don't sound the same mate

Glad they sound different - you had me worried the.

If you don't find the noise it might be worth getting the Cambelt arrangement double checked to be on the safe side.
