I hope it is the air filter issues! To be fair, that's the only thing I found loose under the bonnet as the standard one bolt to secure the air box is crap. I'll try and have another look tomorrow. Thanks all

Sorry to be daft but do you mean this?

Yes that's exactly it!

Mine was the two halves rattling together at 1250rpm ish.

Sounded horrible. I split some rubber tubing and ran it along the joint the re-assembled.

Problem solved. For me anyway. Hope yours is the same mate. :)

Happy days!

You're welcome mate!

Makes the car sound much smoother when pulling away or manoeuvring.

Hope B1rdy is as easily fixed too.

Cheers.

Hi mate. I could t find any tubing but I found some PVC earth wire sleeve I have cut and places right round it and secured with tape. I started the car and whether it's mind over matter but I think it seemed quieter so I'm gonna get some tubing and try a proper fix Tomoz!! I'll give it a road test when I go for our Chinese takeaway shortly! If it works then PM me your home address so I can come and kiss ya!

Hi guys!

Yes just fit it round the bottom joint and clip it all back together. If its not too thick the bottom clips should still fit ok. If its too thin it won't stop rattle obviously. Ha ha!

I'm glad you both got it sorted!

I hope you enjoyed your Chinese takeaway B1rdy!

Cheers!

Ohh pal, it was to die for! Been on a stag weekend so it sorted me out a treat! I'm gonna get some tubing today at work. What size/thickness did you both use that worked best? Was is rubber ie soft squeezy tube or more plastic pipe? Cheers

Hi B1rdy!

You're making me hungry now just thinking about it!

I used about six inches of small rubber air hose and it would be about 7 or 8 mm across I would think.

As long as it clips back together I wouldnt worry too much.

How did you get on Luke?

Cheers. (-:

I got some today so tomorrow I'll do it. If Luke hasn't sorted any then let me know your address and I'll send some first. It'll only be a stamp so I'll send it for free mate as I know how frustrating this noise has been for me and I'm confident with the help from JODRELL that we've cracked it!

Perhaps went overboard??

Ran a bead of gasket sealer down the inside of tubing after slicing it with Stanley. It should have a decent hold when cured. I'll leave the car a good few hours or even tomorrow before I drive it to see if it's worked. Fingers crossed guys

Hi.

I had exactly the same prob and got someone to hold throttle on 1250rpm while I was looking under the bonnet. I narrowed it down to the air intake duct, which is in two halves and was resonating. I fitted some split thin tubing along edge between two parts and annoying sound has now gone!

Hope this helps somebody.

Amazing! Had the vibration problem months... I figured it had something to do with it cos I got the Mrs to rev the car and just kept pushing things til the vibration went! It turned out to be the air ducting, I just didn't know which part! After googling it I found your answer mate... One old innertube cut up later and vibration has gone
Cheers bud!!

You're welcome mate!

Glad to have been able to help.

It's nice when something annoying turns out to be an easy fix.

Don't do marriage counselling tho. Ha ha!

I can confirm after a few days driving with Jodrell's fix that ALL is well! I can't believe it was something so simple. Oh and it's saved me a FORTUNE as Seat said probably the flywheel!
