vRS or FR

Why should I choose one over the other?

Been looking around locally and there are a couple of vRS Fabias and one possibly two FR Ibiza's.

I'm crap at making decisions. Why should I choose one over the other?

Also from left field. Anybody ever owned a Toledo SE 130? Are they nice cars to live with?

Your asking this on a Seat forum? lol. My mate's got a vrs, very tuneable, fast and totally doesn't live up to its Skoda stereotype, and id have one in a second.........................but, if it was my own money, personally id buy the fr, they just look so much better on the road and i would think more fun to drive.

Plus, its not a Skoda........:cartman:

Tuning wise the cars are no different !

They both have the same PD130 Diesel engine unless ur talking about a Petrol FR?

I recently went down the 1/4 strip at GTI International in Devonutopia's VRS , as said they dont fit the skoda stereotype and now i fancy getting my hands on a VRS

basically the decision is what car do you prefer the look of? what cars interior is nicer in your views? pick which ever one you can live with! at the end of the day there both good cars

i went an test drove both cars when i was looking a couple of years back, i basicaly enjoyed the drive in both cars as they where very similar but when it cam down to it i went for the ibiza because i prefered the look of it. i couldnt bring myself to like the black and cream seats in the skoda!!!! so unless you can get the limited eddition vrs with the leather trim go for the ibiza!

as above, they're essentially the same so it's down to which looks you prefer. whilst the Fabia has soft touch interior plastics, I prefer the looks (inside and out) of the Ibiza and it has more sensible colour seats

Jason's Fabia is quick, but it isn't a vRS

Same car underneath comes down to which you prefer.

I went VRS because I needed 5 doors and its more fun beating BMW 318s in a skoda..

things I would take into account are:

Insurance group difference? Where's my closest (good) service garage? etc.

I'd have (shock) the VRS for sure, but they are slightly more expensive. Also they seem to hold their value better.

Then... Fabias can look the tits!

What a can of worms.

Today I was out looking at cars.

Looked at a Ibiza Sport 130 (I think something with 130bhp anyway in the Ibiza body) it's nice, I like all the digital stuff, climate control etc. It didn't get me excited though.
Took another and final look at a black vRS up the street and will sleep on it tonight.

Tested also today in the quest for a replacement car.

Smart Roadster - at 6'4" I had to crawl out of it once I was in.
Smart Coupe - loads of leg room, shame about the head.
Toyota Avensis D4D 2.0 - It's really tempting me. just over 6k and a lovely drive.
Mazda 2 - 1.4TD - rubbish.
Bora 1.9 130 - I can't bring myself to buy one. I really like them but they feel outdated.
Toledo 130 SE (again to check the disks and tyres) I really like it, but is 4500 quid for a 4 year old car too much?

At this moment in time the line up for purchase are as follows

Fabia vRS
Cordoba 100hp S
Avensis
Toledo
ibiza FR (maybe)

I hate choosing cars.

For me in the FR vs vRS debate

Fabia hands down on seats and looks.

Ibiza handsdown on switch gear.

Both much the same on driving.

Toledo - from that far left sneaking in - love the chunky looks, interior and the TDi 130 engine. It may sneak in as a sensible choice.

If it was me it would still be between the VRS and the FR. I just dont WANT the other ones. Theres nothing really that appealing about them.

But thats just me.

facelift fr > fabia vrs > pre-facelift fr

my opinion of course!

Can't afford a facelift.

If I was going to be doing sensible miles I would consider splashing some more cash., but 30k this year and 20-30k next year means hammering to my wallet.

There is an Fabia estate at the garage next to my gym. '03 1.9TDi 100 FSH awful green colour, the absolutely perfect work horse for me, I know it would do more than the job needed, but I hate it with a passion.

I have woken up at night time thinking about it, knowing that in reality it would do an excellent job for the next year or so, but I can;t bring myself to buy it 3999 is a bit pricey as well.

i do similar mileage to you, its no good is it!

Id go vrs then if i was you, not entirely keen on pre-facelift ibizas!

It's an absolute sod doing that sort of mileage.

Throws a spanner in the works when it comes to calculating residual values of cars.

I've seen quite a few vRS at 90-100k mark some over and they have held their value well.

Not seen any FR's etc that I can think of in the high mileages.
