vvt or not?

ive been told my car isnt vvt from looking at the cam chain tensioner, always believed seats were vvt. 2001 cupra r ibiza. thoughts/info please?

All leon cupra's (except the really really early ones) are VVT, but theIbiza never is or was

if anything maybe the throttle is slightly smoother in my mates DBW Golf GTi which is VVT, but then his engine has no n249 crap as far as we can see, its no quicker than my ibiza and he seems to get awful mpg compared to me so that throws fuel efficiency out the window

His N249 valve will be under the intake manifold hidden away at the front of the engine bay!

The VVT has no advantages to performance, it is there purely for emmisions as far as I'm aware. It was introduced in the golf 1.8T's from 2001, but the 2001 golf 1.8t is an AUM engine block and different from the ones fitted in the Ibiza Cupra. The Leon cupras had VVT though, as Mork said.

Oh and I think the low mpg is more to do with my right foot, it can get early 30's mpg when I want it to lol.

i can do 30s any day of the week and il still be infront of u
