W8 Light

Yep - never expected to still have it sitting on my desk!

But should be plain sailing from here Hopefully will get it fitted this weekend, the only other snafu I can foresee is the bluetooth mic, but the W8 light has grilles for this so it should be a straight swap.

David's on the case with SEAT to see if it's incorrectly labelled stock from the factory or if the supersession in ETKA is incorrect

Will get there in the end - at least it should be easier for everyone else. The other option of course is to buy a loom from eBay, but I'm too stubborn to pay £16 quid for something I can make for less than a fiver

Well after a lot of researching, and lots of patience and assistance from David @ SERE I have the correct wires. So all being well I'll be fitting this at the weekend!

About time

For anyone else who wants to make the loom the part numbers you need are:
2x 000 979 131 EA
2x 000 979 103 E
The E on the end of 103 E is extremely important, without it you will end up with 000 979 213 E which is a completely different wire.

Not to sound a bit simple but cant you just cut all the connectors off and scotch block/in line connect the wires?

Yep - but then you've made a mess of the wiring especially if you come to remove the light. This way is much simpler and it makes the light pretty mcuch plug and play and only costs a couple of quid if you make the loom youself rather than buying it from eBay

Call me OCD, but I like to keep things neat, even if no one will ever see them.

Dont worry mate, its just me im used to working on an old Corsa B. I took it from a bog standard car and wired everything electric into it - widows, sun roof, map lights, vanity lights, fog lights, foot well lights, rear interior light, etc. All done with scotch blocks and butchering the existing wiring. Howerver after buying my Mk5 Ibiza brand new i dont think i will be doing the same lol

Never used a skotch block in my life.... horrible things!

As you can see from my write up on how to install them (see page 1) I used good old solder and heatshrink, or solder sleeves.

Did you manage to find a current supplier of the black W8 light - when i did my leon a few years ago, the black ones were as rare as rocking horse poop ... ended up spraying a grey one black.

Nope - they come up on german ebay from time to time, but are really over priced. So spraying black is the only viable option for the Cupra guys

Made my wiring adaptor this evening, so all being well I'll have it up and running tomorrow

Success! It works, it fits better than I'd ever expected, and the bluetooth mic is a straight swap.
