Well I've had my FR TDI about two weeks now and am thinking of things to do to it. However, I'm a bit concerned about what will affect the warranty and what won't. My last car (Focus TDCi) wasn't under warranty, so I was free to put springs on, remap it etc with no worry.

For this one, I want to remap it, lower it and maybe get the cupra brakes. Will any of those affect the warranty?

Which springs do people generally suggest on here for lowering? I went with Eibach for my Focus and they were great!

As for remaps, who do people recommend? I used Superchips Bluefin for my Focus and can get a £200 discount on a handset for my FR if I send my old one back in, making it £300. I like the idea of the Bluefin because it is easily removeable..

Cheers for any advice!
Andy

I have not lowered mine yet so cant advice you there, its all down to personal choice i suppose. I have a stage 1 REVO on my cupra and I have the select which allows me to disable it when I take the car to the garage, so far no issues ;)

Warranty should only be affected on parts that are modded. so if you change the springs, you cant expect them to fix a problem with the suspension.

The Eibach pro-kit's are well regarded on here. I had them at one point, before I went for coilovers.

Theres loads of discussions on remaps for the FR TDI so have a good search.

Thats a fair point.. Just need to scrape some cash together now and decide on the parts I want! Am thinking of lowering it first and leaving the remap until I get bored of the current power.

That said, read your warranty carefully, if they can prove you've had a remap they probably will be reluctant to fix anything because of the supposed extra strain on engine/most parts this creates. Lowering a car can affect it in more ways than just simple the shocks/springs etc. that said, aslong as you're not retarded you should be ok!

If you change anything it will give SEAT grounds to decline warranty - I know Seat dealerships that will mod/remap for you - but YOU take the risk. I normaly wait for at least 7k miles on the clock before I remapped mine spacers went very early boot spoiler same. Changing brakes is a major change but there are VAG parts that can be purchased as a kit [ all my mods are declaired to my insurers = apart from my gas project using hh02 which I'm playing with]

Mines got 14k on the clock.. I had my Focus remapped and that never had a thing wrong with it. However, it wasn't under warranty..

The remap I can maybe do without for a few months as its still a step up from my Focus at the moment. Its just the ride height thats bugging me. As for the breaks, I was going to go for the Cupra brakes anyway as they seem to be a straight swap and cheaper than many others!
