Yet again I need your advise. After owning my car for a week I thought it would be a good idea to clean the brake dust off the wheels. I noticed one had a minor dent in it. I swear it wasn't me though. Is it possible ot get this covered under warranty?

Also Am I right in thinking that the paint is under warranty. It looks like there is a sliver that was painted over in the paint.

Thanks again.

It's hard to what the dealer will say, my advice is just tell the truth and that the alloy was damaged when you got the car, most dealers will fix this ,just to keep you happy.

Well I contacted the dealer who didnt care. After a long battle they decided to repair the wheel. Anyone know if it will look as good as new? I dont want the wheel to end up worse off.

Depends on who they get to do it, you'll have to wait and see!

I was afraid you'd say that!

What are my chances? Should I just buy a new wheel?

And anyone know how much they would cost from new?

Why dont you just let them do it, and then see what the result is like, if its rubbish just make them do it again! If its still crap then make them replace the wheel, you shouldnt be paying for any of it if it was there when you bought the car!

Dozza, You own any Seat dealerships by chance?

Anyways I went to another dealer who says they have a specialist that they know and trust who can make it look brand new again for about £10. The original dealership I bought the car off of said I'd need to leave it for the day and this new one said all of 15 minutes.

I'll go for the £10 pound one since the guy spent about 30 minutes talking with me and didn't have to. Guess I bought it from the wrong dealer.

Have you got any pics of this dent??? Is it like the wheel has been curbed or something?? Cant see how something like that could be done in just 15mins??

15mins would worry me there. Its usualy hours at least for a wheel refurb, Just make them give u a knew wheel, tbh if its marked u dont want em repairing it u want it replaced.

If you get it done by the dealer at least it wont cost you anything, and cant see how they can fix a wheel so quickly, doesnt sound right to me! Unless you are determined to pay for it yourself??

and really I feel I'm not getting anywhere with the original dealer. I even spoke to the owner of the dealership who replied to an email:

Regarding your email unfortunately our company policy and my understanding that it is common throughout the motor industry that we cannot be held responsible for any refurbishment once the vehicle has left the premises for obvious reasons. Please be assured that we would do everything we could in order to assist you getting what appears to be a relatively small defect repaired.

I don't really know my rights when buying a new car.

I was expecting some major damage when you said a dent! Thats just a small chip, probably caused by a stone, the guy who said he could fix it in 15 mins would probably just be touching it up with some silver paint and I doubt you will get much better than that from the dealer you bought it from! Dont think they will carry out a full refurb just for that!

Well, in my twisted mind it is a dent. After all the car is only a week old so anything is a big deal right now. I was hoping atleast a year of no hassle from this thing. i have never had an alloy dent, or chip from road debris. After all this car really hasn't gone over 70.

Just an update. I sent the owner of the dealership a letter quoting some of the sections of the sale of goods Act 1979. Mostly about not accepting the contract until resonable amount of time has gone by for me to inspect the goods, and about any defect found withing 6 months of purchase is considered there at time of purchase.

I know I'm being a bit crazy over a £200 pound wheel, but I know I didn't cause it, and after payments I really cant afford to buy anything like that.

you probably didnt cause it, it was probably just a stone flicked up by another car, its just normal wear and tear! Wait till you see how many stone chips the front end picks up in the next 12 months, seat paint is really soft unfortunately!
