Oh and acid - your beetha is NEVER going to ruin a coupe, standard OR remapped. Standard you will be utterly raped in a straight line, worse the higher the speeds get and remapped you will delay the inevitable until 80 mph or so.

The coupe is just simply faster than it has any right to be based on its power figures alone - its very aerodynamic which helps, plus it has some very well chosen gear ratios to ride the available torque.

thank christ some back up.

Oh and you're right on the gear ratio bit, Thats why the LE was best as it had the 6-speed box.

next he'll be saying his cupra will wipe the floor with an escort cossie, bless

Just cos a car is old don't make it slow, see 3dr cossies for proof of that fact.

i wonder................. if you filled a cars cabin with helium youd be lighter right.

so how much faster? would my leon beat the fiat? with or without the helium?

It doesn't matter even if your Leon wins. Nobody will take you seriously with the squeaky voice. ;)

look i gotta ask, we keep arguing about the weight, you think a mk4 ibiza is heavier then the mk3 ??

thats strange because i saw in the manufacturer specs it says the mk4 weights 1154kg.

does anyone have a reliable source.

and i HAVE a manufacturer spec of mk3 that says 1119kg

not that im gonna make a big deal over that 30kg or so
then there is controversey over how true manufacturer figures are

it doesnt matter anyway, that wasnt the original argument, nor the purpose of this thread so lets not turn it into a mk3 vs mk4

ps im not getting involved :D

To add my two pennuth...

My wife has a coupe 20V, loves it, it only has 150bhp in NA form but feels as fast to me as my Leon Cupra 20VT, and sounds a hell of a lot nicer when you start revving the 5pot :p
So much so, we're now seeking out an LE to replace it with, going to see one at the weekend, :D

I have to admit I didn't like them when they were first released, but they have grown on me. Its an individual sports coupe not a hatchback which is what Darsh wanted, otherwise she'd have a VW, BMW or Audi like every other Indian lass !

Horses for courses I guess, but when looking initially for the 20V she wouldn't even consider the Ibiza Cupra despite me proposing it, she had her reasons which I won't go into here as I'd get flamed I suspect ;)

sweeping statement there yannis, but who'll argue.
My mate jamie went with one one time when we were in cardiff, she squatted in the street for a piss and everything, what a guy!

Almost as good as pissing in a Travelodge teapot or in fact the corner of the room though eh Brend? ;)

I dont know if I should add my two pennies worth, but f*ck it !!

I am going off the details in this thread (can't be arsed looking for other figures) if the Fiat Coupe does a 6.4 0-60 sprint, and a Ibiza Cupra can do it in 7.0 then the 0.6 second gap is going to mean nothing on the road, to be honest, its gonna be hardly noticeable.

Also, as most cars have totally different power deliveries, you can't really say one car will rape another if you have one of them now, and previously had the other in the past. An example would be a LCR and CTR, both have very similar performance on the road, but due to the power deliveries, the LCR appears to be the quicker car.

For one car to be able to 'rape' another, it would have to have a major power/weight advantage (75bhp+), which probably 99% of people on this site would agree with.

:D
